Arthur, for his own part, wasn't feeling much better than the Rookie. He didn't need a mirror to know he looked haggard. The coughing and pain in his chest made it difficult to sleep, regardless of the state of his psyche with Mal and attempting to determine whether or not this was a dream state. More and more, though, he was convinced that - despite his totem - it was. It had to be. Mermaids didn't exist, and you don't get turned into one while breathing at the bottom of the ocean. Damn. The man was ill, like him, and that disturbed the Rookie a little. He didn't like how suddenly this had come, and how quickly it was apparently spreading. With the technology they possessed back home, also in the medical field, this wouldn't have been dangerous in the least - here, on this unknown planet, he couldn't foretell anything about how the illness would progress, if it even was the one people seemed to suspect. Chances were, their immune systems were not at all prepared for this ( ... )
