For Ty Lee. Howdy partner! doesmeanthings September 12 2010, 08:43:12 UTC
Other treasures. Right. Tex glanced at the other search team members, noting them for later referencing if she needed to. It was almost a relief her partner was a fellow girl. Almost. After Sister she wasn't going to expect the best ahead of time. She took the map passed out to her two man team and looked down at it, studying the routes. Impossible to get lost, fairly straight forward run, and the air pocket. Everything felt like a scenario from her days of training. She didn't like it.

That left what route to take and what might be in the caves. She regretted leaving her equipment and armor with the caravan but, it had to be done. MJOLNIR Mk.VI Powered Assault Armor would sink to the bottom of the lake. Don't be taken in by the other treasures. Maybe they could find weapons within, impractical for extended use but, suitable for the mission at hand. Her gaze fell to her partner again as she sighed. "Well, pick a cave and let's get started."

"Sure!" Ty Lee looked fairly upbeat about the whole thing-- there were no traces of worry on her face, and everything about her body language said "eager". Why shouldn't she think of this as an adventure; something fun? After all, she had volunteered for it.

Holding the map with both hands, she studied it. "Hmmm... how about here?"

Tex was all business about the situation. She wanted to nab the treasure and get gone. She had Washington to track down and beat to a pulp if need be for information on the Director. She raised an eyebrow at Ty's eagerness while studying the route warily. It would be utterly stupid and arrogant to assume things would be easy or could be done without anything going wrong. She only had to think back to Donut's lucky throw and to Agent Wyoming's timely appearances to remind herself to proceed cautiously.

That's where having a backup plan came into play. "Alright, let's get started." Because if something seemed too good to be true, it usually was. She'd shoot the plan past her partner once they were inside. She started for the cave Ty Lee had suggested and slipped inside.

Content to simply follow, Ty Lee slid in behind her. Breathing underwater was weird, and she was happy to be back in the air-- even if it was underground.

"So... your name's Tex, right?" She knew that it was; she was just making conversation. The woman seemed so serious! Ty Lee hoped she wasn't nervous or claustrophobic. "I'm Ty Lee, but I guess you already know that. How long have you been on the caravan? Are you a newcomer?"

For Anathema. Let's get this party started, Got Team 4! deathgod_priest September 12 2010, 19:56:16 UTC
Duo was still getting used to this whole underwater thing. Luckily it was mostly a mental thing, the motion required to move in water was really similar to the motion required for low or no G movement so he was used to the weird sort of swimming movements he was having to adopt to move around efficiently. Hopefully his partner wouldn't have the same problem.

He climbed out of the boat, one of the shells in his hand as he looked at the cave mouths and then at the person who was supposed to be with him, braid trailing out behind him in the water. "That looks like a good one to start with."

Impossible to get lost, yeah right. Duo didn't have much experience with caving, but he knew from salvaging wrecked ships precisely how easy it was to get lost somewhere when you had no idea what corridor went where. He couldn't imagine it was going to be very different in a cave that was made by nature instead of people. He'd have to find something in the caves once they got out of the water to mark the walls with so that they wouldn't get lost.

I misunderstand everything ever, I'm sorry for making you wait longer x_x thebooksaysso September 15 2010, 06:29:35 UTC
It had been some years since Anathema had done any swimming at all, but it turned out to be easy enough to adapt back to, if not somewhat slow. It was the whole being able to breathe underwater thing that really threw her; she still found herself occasionally choking when she reflexively attempted to hold her breath, but slower still, she was adjusting to that as well. Of everything they had run into so far, she supposed this was hardly the strangest....

She hadn't even noticed she had been lost in thought until her partner spoke up, snapping her back to attention, and she quickly swam over to him with a small nod. "It seems as good a start as any. Let's see that map again. We should probably have some sort of plan in mind before we do anything."

For Morrigan. First team, moving out! power_in_bonds September 12 2010, 21:32:04 UTC
There was something very familiar about this mission, Minato thought to himself as he looked down at the piece of parchment in his hand, only to focus on the dark cavern in front of them. Sure, there were no labyrinthine towers, no extra hours after midnight and no end of the world, but the rest was fitting. Much like back home, he found himself sent on an expedition to a dark and unexplored area with the purpose of discovering something.

Of course, having experience with such things meant he didn't have to worry about this turning out badly. He knew how to make this work. Maybe not easily, but he did.

"Let's take this show on the road," he commented as he glanced over to his partner. For the sake of being on the same page, he figured he'd ask one other thing. "Would you like to take the lead or should I?"

OH HELLO THERE dissentive September 13 2010, 04:25:24 UTC
Morrigan was, for her own part, less than enthused. Partners? What was this? When she had signed up for this hunt, she imagined herself by her lonesome - able to tuck away such mentioned treasures in sacks as she so pleased. Certainly, 'twould then be a matter of discerning how much weight she could swim with, but no matter. She would figure out a course of action. She gave the boy a brief glance, hands fitted on her hips even as her legs kicked slightly to keep her upright. "'Tis hardly of much importance who leads or who follows," Morrigan retorted, looking briefly at the map in his hand before swimming in the direction of their assigned cave. "We are going in the same direction, are we not?"

METIS callmeyork September 13 2010, 05:01:00 UTC
York wasn't really one to do favors for others, at least not strange creatures like these, but he had to admit that he was a little bored lately. So, he had followed after Zach and volunteered to search for whatever mythical artifact they had been missing. Felt like something straight out of a movie! And yes, of the various ones that were on York's mind, The Goonies was one of them.

He was rather chipper, all things considered, but his mood turned only slightly when he took a glance to see who Zach ended up being partnered with. "...Well, well. You lucky dog, Zach." York muttered, a little too quietly for anyone to hear except for, well. Zach. "I'd be jealous if I wasn't happy for you."

But, enough ogling. They had a job to do, right? So, York turned to look at the young girl he happened to be partnered with and gave her a smile. "Well, this is a first for me, being partnered with a woman. So, forgive me if I'm a little brash. Shall we head on? He gave you a map, correct?"

Metis, looking entirely strange from head to toe, regarded him silently for a moment. "Is working with a girl strange? I didn't know it mattered." She hefted her golden hammer, which looked far too big for her to carry, and nodded, offering the map to him. But that offer came with a stern glance. "We need to focus on rescuing Sister. ... And the others she's with."

As strange as his partner looked, York didn't seem to be that fazed by her. He'd seen much stranger things than a girl decked out in.. what appeared to be some kind of fetish gear. Who was he to judge? At her question, York simply tapped at his chest. "No, no. I was just giving fair warning." He didn't want to overwhelm this girl, after all. Even with that strange hammer, York was instinctively protective of the fairer sex.

But, before he could go into those bad memories, he heaved a sigh, bubbles floating upwards. He took the map from her carefully and gave it a look over. "Hrm..."

"'Sister?' Your sister is here?" He wasn't aware of this. More new arrivals? "I'm sure there are teams focusing on retrieving them."

"I spoke to her. I know we have to get this treasure first, so... let's hurry up and get that done so I can see her." She didn't care what got in her way. She would destroy anything that kept them apart. Metis stood up straight and nodded, to herself and York.

"I don't know how to read this map or anything, so... tell me where we're going."

PARTY THREE [DIANA] whiteroomed September 13 2010, 07:37:53 UTC
Zach couldn't deny that he'd signed up because searching for some mystical artifact for a bunch of merpeople had sounded rather exciting at the time. Doing odd favors for people had been a strange compulsion on their last job and one thing he'd learned from the experience had been that usually it paid off in big ways.

Not that he had gone into it seeking personal gain, but there had been very little incentive to decline the offer.

So far this city hadn't disappointed in the slightest, and it looked to be getting better. Seeing just who he'd been teamed up with, he couldn't help but grin. Ah, now this was going to be fun. He couldn't resist a glance over in York's direction and gave a small chuckle at his words. "Looks like fortune is smiling down on me today, York." He replied just as quietly, giving York's partner a small glance too. "You've got a serious looking one. But maybe in this situation that's a good thing?"

But it would be so rude to ignore his partner, to ignore Wonder Woman. He and York could always talk after their ( ... )

Similarly, Diana was used to things like this. Retrieving items and fulfilling quests to complete an overall mission was nothing new, but the difference here lay in that there was no immediate effect or gain for them, personally. Helping the local merpeople out was well enough, but the reason she had actually decided to take the challenge was to take her mind off of other things. She knew that she should be glad that Tom had left--in her mind, he had returned home--but his departure had been an unwelcome surprise.

But any of her troubles had been put aside for the task at hand. She smiled coolly in return to her partner, motioning towards the nearest cave whose path had not been taken.

"I don't know how much luck I can provide, but with any, the hunt will be safe and swift," she said easily, starting towards it. It wasn't the first time she had spent lengthy amounts of time underwater, thanks to Arthur (perhaps more commonly known by his alias of Aquaman), but the similarities to her world didn't put her any less off guard.
