The guy on the roof was. Considering how small the town was, Sleepywoods must have been a lot busier than normal with the sudden explosion of lost travellers, so he was watching the day go by on a rooftop as Elika took to the streets. It was nice, to be back somewhere with hustle and bustle. And lots of weird people, but that was just something to keep an eye on in case of boredom.

Unfortunately, though her original plan was still very important and definitely the driving force of the moment, the longer Anathema walked, the more her curiosity started to grow despite everything, and after some time she couldn't help stopping here and there to look at little things of interest. One of these very interesting things just happened to be some man on one of the shop rooftops. What on Earth....?

If she actually stopped in order to stare better, she hadn't meant to.

Oh... she noticed. That was always fun. He waved back a little; she would probably stare a bit longer and then go on her way. They usually did. Even though she was badly in need of proper footwear.

New footwear could wait, even if her feet were starting to ache. What she wouldn't give to have Phaeton back right now. With any luck, she even would soon.

First thing was first, though! Use people's strange hobbies to her advantage! "Excuse me, any chance you could point me back to the main road?" And hope she could be heard over everyone else.

In point of fact, H.M. Murdock was going to notice. Sure, the streets of the small town were full of all manner of strange-looking people -- not all of whom were native. But the combination of fuzzy bedroom slippers with her determined stride and purposeful look was still eye-catchingly incongruous, enough so that it made Murdock pause and grin as she passed him by.

Murdock even got a small, tight-lipped smile in return as Anathema passed, however forced it looked. She didn't really have time to stop and chat, she'd already managed to turn herself around enough as is in the short time she'd been out, she still had to find....

She paused. And then, after a moment of debate, she sighed, and turned to follow after the man. "Er, sir?"

Murdock froze in mid-step, one foot still stuck out in front of him, and pivoted to face her. "Yes ma'am, what can I do ya for?" He replied -- still on one foot.

If nothing else, that got Anathema to crack one of the first smiles she'd felt all day. "You wouldn't happen to know your way around this town, would you?"
