It hadn't been that long since the caravan arrived in the new village. From Naruto arriving again and having no recollection he was here before, there only meant there was another way to leave even before reaching Loophole especially with all the disappearances that happened within the last week itself ( ... )

The more he moved, the easier it became to accept things as they were. He was dead at Sasuke's hand, caught in a limbo of forest and meant to wander infinitely without any means of knowing. At least his reflexes were the same, still fluid. And that was a relief considering. Yet, that did not appease him as thoroughly as it should have. Whatever was to be his fate would soon make itself evident, and Itachi didn't know how long he walked until-- How could that be ( ... )

The feeling of deja vu overwhelmed Sasuke as he just stared at his brother when he spoke. Seeing his brother again, and in the midst of this forest was the last thing he expected to see.

While he did sense Itachi's chakra earlier, he was more inclined to believe that it was a genjutsu. He tried to send a message to Itachi over the Junogam but it only told him that he wasn't here, which infuriated Sasuke more than anything. Just what was the purpose of running into his brother in every stop they took so far? He didn't like this one bit and whatever it was, he wanted to put a stop to it.

He suddenly regained his movement after the initial shock of seeing Itachi again, and he slowly started to approach him. A hand resting on the hilt of his sword, as if he was ready to attack. That gesture was more out of habit more than anything else. A scowl still evident on his features while he calmly spoke "That's hardly what this is"

He desired to ask him what he thought it was then, their meeting like this. A delusion or reality: only one was correct, and Itachi didn't want to make that decision just yet. There were many things to discuss, those not yet finalized between them despite those final moments together. What he felt - looking at Sasuke now - had never been so forthright as it was in that instant. He frowned; only momentary as the beginning of a chuckle worked up and caught in his throat.

It hurt. Just as everything else seemed to be, it burned. Itachi welcomed the pain, an anchor to this world and the brother before him. A hand covered his mouth even as he watched him touch that sword, forcing himself to swallow once, and he stood rigid, looking at him and calculating what best to say. His opportunities if Sasuke attacked.

"Hardly." The word was just as dispassionate now as his face, and he couldn't help what came next. So much for precaution. "What do you want, Sasuke?"
