The Doctor, despite being a Time Lord, had the terrible habit of never being on time. Granted it wasn't so bad now as he was simply walking rather than relying on the TARDIS to transport him (he might've ended up five years in the future rather than five minutes again, then). But coupled with his absent-mindedness and the fact that he still wasn't quite too sure of where everything was on the Caravan, it was definitely enough to make him late in meeting Emma.

He tapped at his watch as he rounded the corner, like he almost expected it to do something about his tardiness for him. But it was hard for him to believe that navigating the hallways really had taken as long as the gold watch was telling him. Surely it couldn't have been more than five or maybe six minutes.

"Maybe it's been tampered with," he wondered aloud as he continued walking. Unfortunately, he was so engrossed with the possibility of someone tinkering with his watch (because it couldn't be him, of course not), and being tardy that he walked right past her. Oops.

It had taken a while for Emma to realize that the wrinkle was going to haunt her for the time being, so she conceded to that fact and decided sitting with her hand firmly over it was the best way to go. As she pulled back and sat properly in the chair, she sighed. What she wouldn't give for a good iron...

With another sigh, she crossed her arms, put a hand back over her skirt, then settled on resting her hands in her lap. With the state of her attire now somewhat out of her mind, she finally had begun to wonder if she had given bad directions to the Doctor. They had been a little vague, she thought in hindsight. Maybe she should've offered to meet him outside? She frowned. That would've been a better idea. And now she was probably going to get stood up because she didn't think to lay out the route for him more precisely ( ... )

It took a moment for him to be aware that someone was calling his name. He poked his watch one more time and opened his mouth to reflexively answer, "just a moment, Amy" - that is until his brain caught up with his mouth and reminded him that Amy wasn't here.

So who could be the one calling out for him?

He stopped in his tracks and turned around slowly, dropping the arm he'd been holding up to examine in favour of smoothing down his tweed jacket. Not that it really needed any sort of smoothing down. It was more of a habit, really. His eyebrows furrowed as he took in the person standing behind him. Red hair? Red Skirt? Waving and calling his name?

"Emma Pillsbury?" he answered, a look of realization crossing his face. So he'd managed to find the person he was meeting up with after all. Well, she'd really been the one to find him technically speaking, but those were minor details. His features softened into a smile and he continued, "Emma! Sorry about that. Got a bit lost. New place. You know how it is. Right, anyways. Hello!"

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry," Emma said as she stepped up, taking a moment to catch her breath. "You don't--you don't have to apologize. It wasn't until, um, I'd sat there for a while that I realized, you know, maybe my directions weren't the best. I mean, you haven't even been on the Caravan before! So really, I'm sorry."

Apologizes aside, she began to finally get a look at the Doctor. Truth be told, it was a little weird to see him without his costume on, as she'd become so used to it as they talked at the masquerade. There was nothing to be disappointed about, though. With a smile, she finally answered his greeting. "Hi."

It took her a moment to realize she'd probably been staring at him for longer than was comfortable, so she cleared her throat and gestured over to the chairs she'd left behind. "So, um. So. Shall we sit? I'm eager to hear more about this whole, you know, time business. Not exactly what I went to school for."
