Laundry room. Man, Nero was spending an awful lot of time in there these days. And for what reason? It wasn't even like he was doing his own laundry. No way in hell. He had a plan and his plan was pretty solid, especially for someone who was too busy with all the cooler stuff in life to do his own laundry. (Especially when Kyrie wasn't around to give him a look, a look like she knew he was skipping out on something he was supposed to help with, and she wasn't angry, just disappointed. That was the worst.)

No, Nero was hanging around the laundry room for about the same reason he'd been hanging around the kitchen, only this time he wasn't waiting for them to leave food over--he was waiting for them to toss a load in and start washing. And then, he'd just saunter by, and say something like how he only had this jacket and didn't want to waste the space in the basins, so could he just toss this one jacket in with the rest of their stuff? It was getting kinda dirty and he didn't think it was badass to smellIt wasn't like he could do it ( ... )

Things had almost worked out. She was just starting to get a little excited at the prospect of actually being alone to do such rewarding work, and there was a growing smile on her face the longer she thought about it. This wasn't going to be hard at all! Even if she was starting to sweat and her hair was starting to get a bit poofy, she just knew she was going to do what she needed to ( ... )

The last person Nero'd talked to who had a stutter like that had tried to kill him. Tried to kill Kyrie, too, which was a whole lot worse in his book. But he wasn't prejudiced--the two weren't exactly alike, or anything alike, for that matter. There was something jumpy about this woman that made her look like a scared little girl; Nero almost felt bad for a second, not even knowing why. It was a free world, right? Free caravan, too. He could go anywhere he wanted, especially in the common areas.

nero shook it off, full-bodied, physical and mental at the same time, shrugging his shoulders as he stepped into the room.

"Looks like you're doing some laundry," he said, nodding at the clothes in the sink. Well, not a sink, but close enough to. Sure wasn't a convenient system, now was it? And where were they supposed to hang the clothes out to dry--tied to the giant's ass or something? "There room in there for something else? Just one thing... Wouldn't wanna use up a whole sink-thing for just one jacket."

And so a challenger had appeared.

Her eyes widening slightly, Emma clutched the edges of the basin behind her, holding on to the thing like it held the answer to life. But then she realized she'd already broken one of Lightning's rules--no hesitation! Biting her lip, she forced herself to let go and tried to stand up a little straighter. That was how you made yourself dominant, right?

"I, I am," she agreed, nodding. "I mean, laundry rooms are for, you know, laundry, a-and I have laundry, so...yeah. Um." She nodded once more for good measure. "That's what I'm doing. I think my tub's a little too full to fit something else, so maybe you should, um. You should try another one."

For what probably seemed like no reason to to Nero, Emma burst into a smile. That was great! That was nice and assertive without being too mean (she thought so, at least). And she said maybe only once. Even if that hair of his was really distracting her, and her basin wasn't that full, she'd stood up for her right to her own washing space ( ... )

This sucked.

It wasn't necessarily that Conrad was one of those trendwhores-- no, he just liked his clothes, and liked them the way they were. And the variety of them. He'd thought that maybe, just maybe, more of his wardrobe, or at least maybe a damn suitcase would pop up in his room, but no such luck. It seemed whoever saw fit to throw him here was a dick and hadn't thought to include necessities like toiletries and clothing changes. Fantastic. He wished he'd seen fit to buy some replacements back at that village thing, but as for now, he only had the clothes he'd been wearing ( ... )

It was actually kind of nice, Emma thought, going back to how clothes used to be washed in the old days. That made the process that much more worthwhile, knowing that it was up to her, rather than a machine, to get her clothes sparkling fresh again. Sure, she was probably going to struggle to do it as well as she remembered her grandmom doing it, but there was always fun in learning!

Something that she wasn't going to do alone, however.

As she was grabbing a box of washing soap, the door closing behind her made her freeze. Her eyes momentarily widened and she turned, looking just about as dismayed to see Conrad as he probably was to see her. She then steeled herself, the "move on instinct" rule floating through her head. Instinct was saying "move back over to the basin," and she did so quickly, hoping she projected some form of control over her area.

"Hi," she greeted, looking more awkward than controlling, most likely because the box of soap in her hands was shaking a bit. So much for assertiveness.

Maybe the first sign that it was time to panic was that he still wasn't coming up with any new plans. It's not like he could just up and ask her 'Hey, I kind of need to get naked to clean my clothes, could you please leave yeah okay thanks'. No. For one thing, that was just rude, and she seemed nervous enough anyway. And for another..who the hell would want to get naked in a public place anyway. He wasn't some kind of pervert! Probably he could just wash his shirt first, wait for it to dry, and then his pants after, but..that was still awkward.

A quiet groan, and really, he had no idea what he was going to do. Option A: be an assertive dick and tell her that he needs the entire washroom? Or option B: try and find somewhere behind the basins that he could hide, so she wouldn't think him some kind of weirdo?

...okay no seriously what was he going to do.

Conrad scratched at the back of his neck in lieu of an actually helpful response, ended up giving her an awkward sort of grin. "Er.. Hi." And he glanced around the room, trying to ( ... )

You got me reading hinabn (finally). Therefore, yay! thedoegirl June 20 2010, 03:31:32 UTC
It probably wasn't too obvious, but Emma began to relax slightly. He wasn't making any move to come near her, so that was good. She even managed a small smile of her own as she gave him a little finger wave. It was okay to be nice now since she didn't have to defend her territory. There was no reason to be so alert anymore, right ( ... )

Ever since his clothes had been turned a bright pink, Sora had taken to checking the basins before he did laundry, and staying by them until they were done. And so, this was what he had taken to doing today, quickly making his way through the caravan to where the basins were located, still somewhat pink clothes in hand. Luckily enough, his main outfit but darker colors, shades of yellow and deep blacks, so they hadn't been affected. How he was going to completely de-pinkify the others, well..

He glanced up as he entered the laundry room, watching the woman curiously for a minute. The curiosity only grew with the jumpiness, and concern began to move in. So, being the nice person he is, Sora walked over, smiling at her.

"Are you having trouble with a basin?"

"O-Oh, gosh!" Emma exclaimed loudly upon hearing his voice, nearly flailing into the basin and knocking it over. Luckily, as heavy as it was, the basin hardly moved, the water merely sloshing around inside. Close call ( ... )

Emma was busily poking at her clothes in the water, trying to agitate everything carefully but thoroughly. Getting the clothes that she had on at the moment wet wasn't the goal, after all. It was kind of difficult to agitate anything carefully, however, so Emma was constantly darting around the basin any time water got close to splashing on her. Which was happening a lot. It was getting pretty frustrating, so she decided it was time to try using a washboard ( ... )

By the time Xion had spoken again, Emma had made it halfway through cleaning a sleeve, but she was far from frustrated. Oh no, she was positively gleeful. It was like she was lifting away fear and anxiety with every scrub! She probably looked way too happy to be doing such manual labor, but anything that made her less anxious about dirt was something to be excited about ( ... )
