Fujita was looking forward to a bath. It would be his first peaceful, uneventful bath outside of that stupid shithole the entire En family was living in underground.

No interruptions, no puking on his face, no having to undress a full grown woman because someone ran into the shower in a bra, granny panties and a tutu with her mask on-- No. Today, he was free from the stress of babysitting the most infuriating bitch in his life. A relaxing shower away from everything in his life. Maybe a world of disgusting humans wasn't so bad. If no one had any abilities, there was no discrimination, right? He could overcome the prejudice learned into him for some peace, could he ( ... )

Crap, did someone hear that? Adachi considered saying nothing, in hopes that whoever it was would turn around and go away. But no, that might backfire. He poked his face through the steam, trying to see who was talking to him, but either the fog was too thick or they were hiding.

Adachi called out through the clouds, "Y-Yeah, I'm fine! No need to come in here! The water's kinda cold, you know, took me by surprise..."

Fujita looked at one of the faucets with a sense of accusation. Oh, no, it wouldn't get him. "Thanks for the heads up!" he replied, grinning to himself.

He cracked his knuckles. He'd be able to best at least the water, right? Just a bit of smoke for that kind of thing. He could do it, for sure. A puff of black soot, about as big as his head, left his fingertips and hit the faucet, and then he turned it on.

"KYAAAA! FUCK FUCK FUCK!"

And a loud thump as he fell back and hit the ground.

"You know what? Fuck this place! I can't even do that? God damn it, this is the worst place I've ever been to! It's even more shitty than Hole! What kind of place is this?!"

That sounded painful.

Adachi cringed when Fujita hit the floor - didn't he just warn the kid to stay the hell out of here? (Never mind that he has no right to do that.) It sounded like a nasty fall, though - and man, someone's in a bad mood. He hesitated for a moment, wondering if he'd find someone laying in a pool of blood with a cracked skull, but he swallowed his doubts and parted the steam enough to see Fujita sitting there on the floor.

"Uhhh, are you alright? Did you slip?"

By the end of the second day, Kanji begins to miss the comforts of home. It's tough sharing such a tiny room with another person after living as an only child his entire life. But because he has to share a room, he thinks it's about time that he hit the showers.

A private shower is another thing Kanji misses, he thinks to himself as he wanders down the hallway. Just because group showers aren't an uncommon practice where he's from doesn't mean he has to enjoy them. Anxiety pools in his stomach as he nears the baths and hears water running.

There's no turning back now, though. When he opens the door, he hopes for the best and prays it's not a girl.

"H-hello?"

For a split second, Adachi thinks he recognizes the voice, and prays to various deities that his hunch is wrong. The last thing he'd want is for someone to take any response as an invitation to join him - unless they were a girl, and there's no mistaking this voice as a male one. It'd be just his luck if all the girls decided to take their showers in the morning, leaving him in a sausage fest at night.

Adachi turns up the faucet, increasing the water pressure, and the pitter-patter of droplets on the shower floor gets louder. There's no way anyone could mistake what's happening in here, and he hopes the noise will be enough to deter whoever's coming in.

Huh, there's no reply. Whoever is in here either didn't hear him or is ignoring him. Whatever, man. Kanji is here to wash himself, not to make conversation. He enters, undresses himself, picks a faucet and stands out of the water's way as he turns it on.

The anxiety of sharing a shower with someone is washed away with the dirt and sweat when Kanji stands under the cascade of hot water. This isn't so bad, he thinks to himself. It's not like they can see each other through all this steam. And it's not like Kanji is looking, either.

Great, he ignored me, Adachi thinks. Haven't these kids ever heard of a thing called respect?

Whoever he is is doing a good job of ignoring Adachi and staying out of his way, though, so Adachi returns the favor, hoping that the steam is doing a bang-up job of obscuring his junk while he gives his hair a half-assed lather with the shampoo. (No amount of styling and primping can fix that weedwhacker mess.)

Beyond always felt unclean lately. Maybe it was the brutally murdering people stint in his homeworld, or the transdimensional travel he'd endured twice by now, once to contribute to a military and now to, apparently, gallivant around aimlessly. Or at least aimlessly to him; he didn't want to go back "home." There was always so much blood no matter where he looked; so much red, so much death. It was disgusting ( ... )

Perhaps there would be less blood if he stopped killing! Or if he wants the fun without the mess, he can convince someone to do it for him, like Adachi did.

The showers this evening were busier than he'd hoped. Note to self, 9PM is rush hour. Out of the corner of his eye, he realizes that whoever is there is clearly doing the smart thing and avoiding the cold water.

"Smart move," Adachi mutters.

Beyond's far too proud to get other people to kill for him. No, all the crimes were his and his alone, the only thing that was -- even if they were a reaction rather than his own action. Even showering was a reaction to being dirty. He wasn't an acting kind of guy.

Shampoo, though. That was where he could start. It didn't take long to wash his hair, working methodically through rinsing it out and beginning to lather up. It did, however, take awhile for Beyond to realize that Adachi had spoken. ...Okay, taking a shower around other people, fine. But talking? He didn't bother concealing how he was less than comfortable.

"...Thanks."

And Adachi had not expected a response. He'd thought it obvious that he was talking to himself, berating himself for being too shortsighted to think that maybe the water wouldn't immediately be the perfect temperature. The voice was familiar.

"Sorry, did you hear that?" Adachi's big mouth betrays him yet again. "It really was a smart move, the cold water got me when I turned it on!"

Despite the less-than-comfortable setting, he can't bring himself to shut up. It's in his nature to try and cover up his mistakes.

Nodoka was nervous. It wasn't that she was unused to showering or bathing with more than one person (the baths in her dorm, for instance, were hugged and meant to be shared), that she was fine with. It was just... At school, it was all girls. No men were allowed because there were no men, save the teachers (who all lived off-campus anyway). The only boy that Nodoka could recall ever being in the female bathroom was Negi-sensei, and that was a different story. He was only ten and, admittedly, Nodoka didn't... Really mind Negi-sensei peeking. Not that she would ever admit it, not even to herself ( ... )

Adachi was finally nearing the end of his bath, after encounters with god-knows-how-many dudes by now - no girls, of course; that is just how his luck tends to go. When he finished, he shut the water off and wrapped himself in a towel. It was only after he shut the water off that he noticed a girl in a swimsuit trying to avoid the cold water.

Oh jeez, she's young, he thought. It only took him a split second to wheel around and face the wall - not only does he want to avoid getting slapped, he'd also like to avoid going to prison.

"S-Sorry about that, miss!" he said in a high-pitched voice.

Nodoka looked over his shoulder nervously - she recognised that voice. That was Adachi-san, right? Stepping away from the water she gave him a nervous smile, despite the fact that he couldn't see it. She felt more unsure now than she had before; it would have been much better if she hadn't known the person she had to sort-of share a shower with by name.

Taking a moment, Nodoka wondered if she should reply or not. It would be rather awkward to have a conversation whilst waiting for the shower to warm up, wouldn't it? She didn't really want to make the other man feel awkward - especially as he already had to suffer having her in the room whilst he was getting clean. Laughing nervously, Nodoka shook her head.

"N-No, that's alright! I'm the one that intruded!" She told him, her voice only a little higher than normal.

Ty Lee, for her part, was very used to communal bathing-- while traveling with the circus, she and the other performers had often had to wash in streams, lakes, and rivers, and hadn't always had the luxury of things like gender dividers, or even swimsuits. Sure, she was a young teenage girl with a healthy (if rather innocent) interest in the opposite sex, but that didn't mean she couldn't be naked around a guy without her thoughts turning to naughty things. She was mature!

After unceremoniously disrobing at the door, Ty Lee gave Adachi a wave and a hearty "Hi!" before heading off to a corner of the room herself. She didn't understand what all the fuss was about, really. It was just showering.

His own culture wasn't the most modest about bathing, either, but he can't remember the last time he took a group bath - that's something you do with friends and family, after all, and he's lacked both for a long time. And never with women, of course; they stop letting you bathe with the girls after you turn six.

(And there's a probably a good chance that a 14-year-old girl like Ty Lee is more mature than he is, for sure.)

He'd finished, finally, and was in the process of putting his clothes back on when Ty Lee greeted him as if there was nothing out of the ordinary. He pulled up his clothes quickly and averted his eyes again, a reflex that quickened at a rate inversely proportional to the girl's age. It was odd that she didn't seem bothered; she seemed to be young but not so young that she lacked that good old teenage modesty.

"Hi," Adachi muttered, staring at the floor. "Sorry, I'll be getting out soon..."

"Oh, it's okay!" she said cheerily. "I won't look or anything!"

Showers were not something that Ty Lee was used to-- at home, everyone had bathtubs. She started inspecting the shower head, quickly finding the knob to turn it on. As the blast of cold water hit her, she let out a little squeal.
