I woke up this morning feeling like a new woman! Excited, inspired, motivated. Today was awesome, I enjoyed the company of this little baker, and got a lot of work done.

I even put some stuff up on ebay.

On Tuesday I am hanging a show with LIA, and Weds I'm going thrift shopping with Emm while Occy's at the babysitters. So I have a lot of fun stuff ( Read more... )

All you need is some wood and nails to make your own hackles or even combs.

:) Here's how my husband built my ultra-high tech hackle:

We used hair picks and a scrap piece of lumber. The whole thing cost less than $10, and it works amazingly well. I use a button as a diz, too.

Well, I have no idea what a hackle is... looks painful to me!
It was a stressful day and Occy's video put a big 'ol smile on my face! Thanks, I needed that!
See you tomorrow:0)

You can also make roving right off your drum carder with a diz. I use a coffee can lid with a hole punched in it. Loosen about a half inch of the batt at one end of the "groove" and work your way around the drum, pulling your batt off in thin strips through the diz. As you get back around to the starting spot, simply move over a bit to keep the roving continuous. It spins up like "buttah"!

I like the button idea---must look through my stash!

Yarnzombie--Jackie commented that she uses a button as a diz. That's what I was referring to.

Somewhere on youtube there was a great video of a guy doing the drum carded roving thing. I'll see if I can find it for you.

oh okay, I thought so! Okay, it sounds like there are so many ways to do it, I'm getting overwhelmed. haha
