A Modest Proposal-Why not write an AU for the fandom?

I can't be the only person here who has wondered why no one has ever written an alternative universe for this fandom. They're commonplace in every other RP fandom I've read fic in. So when this opportunity arose, I thought I should put it out there.

Your plot sounds like so much fun. Coming from the SGA fandom (specifically the McShep side), I also wonder why there aren't more AUs in the XF and XF RPF fandoms. I'm looking forward to your fic! :)
