Did I join Dreamwidth because I wanted in on this challenge? Yes. Yes, I did. And some others I've seen over the last few months, too.
This month's TV Tropes challenge at fandom10in30 is exactly my kind of challenge, -- one that allows my muse to run free within some loose but still somewhat specific themes :) (It's also super fun to work with, not gonna lie.) I choose The West Wing because *gesticulates* well, it's the fandom I have the most caps for and, also, the one I know has an extensive and well-curated trope list on tvtropes. I hope it looks kind of nice, even if the cohesiveness I'd have liked isn't there and the coloring tended to be darker.
***
big damn kiss · combat pragmatist · statuesque stunner · (subverted) dumb blonde · rags to royalty (professionally)
the chessmaster · dating catwoman · married to the job · height angst · the eeyore
Alternates
ms. exposition · dating catwoman · deadpan snarker · break the cutie · like a son to me
vitriolic best buds · statuesque stunner · iconic item · happily married
[alternate tropes for these icons that also inspired me] these could also apply to these icons and/or the characters in them, most likely... and at some point were the tropes I wrote down. Big Kiss -> Smooch of Victory or Orbital Kiss Statuesque Stunner -> Ms. Exposition or Deadpan Snarker Rags to Royalty -> The Stoic The Chessmaster -> Insufferable Genius Dating Catwoman -> "Shut Up" Kiss or Test Kiss The Eeyore -> Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
[ramblings]Some of the icons don't represent the trope all the well - mostly just the person - but some tropes on the show (and in Sorkin's writing in general) are just hard to capture in icon form. The muse came and went as the month progressed so these aren't quite complex or anything. I did try my hand at text work in a few of them, even if they didn't make the cut and they're not entirely good. Anyhoo! Overall, I don't hate this set and I will probably revisit it at some point because I do feel I could improve them.Isn't that what I always say?

As I said above, March was more unproductive that I would've expected considering the circumstances. (In an alternate reality, I probably was quite productive the second half since I'd have been home alone. Alas.) Below are some other icons I've made for challenges or for fun in the last month :)
