I'm going on a little tumblr hiatus - just because despite my efforts to only follow people who are about squee rather than drama, sometimes stupid fandom wank still makes it onto my dash, and lately I've been finding it harder and harder to not care

Oh dear. I feel like I know so well how you're feeling. All that wank is making me feel so sick, so I've blacklisted a lot of words and tags, and yet I can never seem to get rid of all of it. Probably I should take a hiatus as well.

Yeah, I've got lots blacklisted as well - it definitely helps, just not for everything. And I think the real problem right now is more that I myself am more in a "rargh HULK SMASH" mood over small wanky stuff that before might not even have registered as an annoyance. So that's why I think it's probably best to take a break.

Do what you need to for your own well-being. I take a break semi-periodically, though you wouldn't necessarily know it; I also subscribe to certain peoples' art, meta, and fic announcement tags via RSS so I can still have stuff to reblog.

But I get why this would be important, and even if I didn't it's still completely your choice.

Yeah, it's also a little bit about forcing myself away from the time-vortex that is tumblr. I've got a lot better at self-regulating, but as the days grow darker I get more vulnerable to online negativity and the lethargy that comes from spending too much time online. So it's not just the wank, it's also me - and that's probably why a break is best for now. :-)

I understand the need to do this. I've been sort of absent from Tumblr due to work and have missed whatever the current round of drama is. I do not miss that at all.

Oh, still the same old, same old. TJLC, Mary-hate, baby-hate, blah blah blah, rinse and repeat - and the main problem is, I think, that I'm not longer really able to shrug and laugh at it. So that's an indication, to me, that I need to take a step back for a little while.

I do feel like LJ is a safer place for me than tumblr. I guess it's easier here to select what bits of fandom you want to consume. :-)
