What an interesting tone and perspective in this fic, the fight for self-awareness of her identity, what she's become and what she's lost. There's something very poignant about her wish to see herself and die on her own terms, of never actually knowing what she looks like now. And the part about her reveling the power she has in the last moments of her victims, that this power is parallel to that her beauty gave her when she was a maiden, very haunting. I like that she doesn't seem to have any remorse over the killing, because it's not a particular violent manner of murder, it's actually very distant. And that she's worried if she does see herself she might actually grasp the horror of what she's doing and stop, another reason not to look in ( ... )
