All mad here

Why is everything coming out too schmoopy or too angsty? Why don't I have a middle ground? What is wrong with me?

Don't answer those questions. :)

GLEE!

This is exactly the sort of fic I was hoping for!!! *dances*

You think this is too angsty? I think it's perfect; superstitions are not necessarily happy things, which reflects here, and yet I found this to be hopeful too. There's no getting around uneasy ghosts for Sawyer... at least not without help. And the learned luck rituals are complimentary to Jack's own control issues.

Pointing your shoes in opposite directions [or turning your clothes inside out] is one of my favorite folk beliefs. It's such an evocative image. Thank your mom for me -in a stealthy fashion, of course. :D

Oh, and the old man's sweater is a great touch [and I have one of those, a burgandy cardigan that I love]. That's such a cozy scene - Sawyer with his coffee and sweater, and Jack grinning - very telling of the depths of their relationship.

Thank you Lee!
*gives you a gold star*

And also: *HUGS* Do I need to beat down on anything on your behalf?

Actually I thought the ending was too schmoopy. But see! I can never trust my own judgment. I'm mostly insane.

I love superstitions. I'm a little like my mother a little like Jack. I do them, even though I don't really think it works. Another big one is my mother freaks if anyone puts shoes higher than the bed. I couldn't figure out how to use that one.

But yeah I went with Sawyer because we have an abundence of old wives in the South. I like the idea of him almost afraid that anything could take his happiness away.

Great prompt my Queen. *takes star* So happy to please. And no royal beatdowns required. I'll be fine I promise.

Awww, a perfect superstition for Sawyer, and it's nice to see someone he remembers fondly from his past. I adored the moment when he regretted touching his grandmother, wanting her ghost with him, that was just beautiful.

What a wonderful little exploration of Sawyer's personal history! There's got to be more there than the Daddy issues - and if the show would give us something like this, honestly, I might not mind some more flashbacks.

Jack says they've already beaten fate.

Ah, Jack. If only. ;)

If only is right. I wish!

Sawyer needs more back story exploration. There are so many layers they could peel back.

beautiful! I loved that Sawyer had an affectionate grandmother, that Jack has helped him being happy, and it's so true that "they've already beaten fate".

I think we all want Sawyer to have had someone then and now.

:)

So glad you like!
