Who or what could it be though? This is a very troubling situation.

Someone said it wasn't the first time this has happened, where did people show up before?

Well, obviously not the monsters. They just walk around and smash things! It's whoever is behind them!

Um... I think they turned up on top of building roofs or something.

There's someone controlling the monsters? I thought they were just... wild and untamed.

Maybe checking the rooftops will be the best thing to do first?
