ok i think this is the most pathetic question i've ever made but...
Do you know where i can learn to knit? Like, the basic things ? Grandma lives far away and I want that scarf as well =(

I crochet BUT, if you go to YouTube, there are *tons* of great knitting tutorials for the very beginner. I myself learned how to put the yarn on the needles and do a basic knit stitch which is all you need.

All sorts of free and useful knitting stuff under one roof. If you're not sure which style to choose ("English" or "Continental"), try both kinds and use the one that drives you less insane at first.

...I don't even particularly like those colors in his scarf, and I definitely don't have time to work on it, yet I feel this weird compulsion to order new yarn and maybe some new needles and start working out the number of rounds for each color, and... argh!

I didn't even know there were two styles to knit! Oh the level of my ignorance! ! I will try this, hope not to be a complete disaster! And I know what you mean, the colors are nice i guess, but it's definitely not the best scarf i've seen. And yet I'm willing to give it a try! =) Thanks again for the link & good luck with your own scarf!=)
