Oh, this was lovely. You have their voices and manner just so, and have captured the parts of their dynamic that I enjoy most. Hound's quiet (but not cold!) reserve, along with his genuine admiration of Watson; Watson gruff but eager, confident but just a little bit star-struck all the same. They took to each other so readily, didn't they?

Watson blushed a little. "I wasn't that helpful to you."

"Oh, but you were."
...made me laugh, because I could exactly hear Hound's nearly-proprietary pride in Watson. :-)

And I laughed at this, too: "Besides, you said my motorcar was a work of art. I won't forget that, my dear boy." Of course that would be a strong point in Watson's favor!
