Thanks! I was curious about the source material - and once I'd seen that charming little movie I had to leap into its world. Couldn't resist adding Batman to the mix, either (considering that Batman was indeed inspired by Sherlock Holmes).

Watson's own words can't be matched for this one: everything is, indeed, awesome. This gets both the Legoverse and the Holmesverse characterizations spot-on, not excluding the Batman (with or without an uppercase B).

I can already tell that the guessing for this round is going to be fiendishly difficult....

Thanks! I finally got a chance to see THE LEGO MOVIE earlier this year, and when I'd seen the charming little LEGO Hound film I had to do a crossover.

As I said, the LEGO Hound isn't just cracky, there's amazingly tender moments in it that capture the friendship of Holmes and Watson, especially the last scene with the two men. So I had to reproduce that in the story too.

And I had to add Batman to the mix - considering that Sherlock Holmes was one of the inspirations for Bob Kane's creation of the Dark Knight.

I know not one thing about this iteration of Holmes and Watson and have never so much as played with Legos, but this had me howling and delighted from start to finish. Wonderfully, crisply done!

Thanks so much - good to know the story works on its own merits!

I didn't know a thing about LEGO Hound till I looked it up on Google and watched it on YouTube. It's funny, cracky, and surprisingly tender. I couldn't resist the challenge. And I did love The LEGO Movie.

I hoped, I hoped but I didn't dare dream... ^_____^

You know, I put the Lego Hound in my sign-up at the very last minute, thinking 'why not?' And I'm just thrilled that someone actually wrote something in this 'verse - and wrote something this wonderful. I know the original is deliberately cracky but it’s also full of heart and respect for its source material, and you’ve definitely caught that in your own work.

I liked the thought of a fic based on the Lego Hound, but if you'd asked me to write something myself I wouldn't have had a clue what direction to go in - to make it specifically a Lego world. It was an inspired idea on your part to do a crossover with the Lego Movie. (Must admit I haven't seen it but I've got myself up to speed at the IMDB with summaries and trailers ^__^) The two ‘verses go together so well.

I love how practical Watson is in the face of The Prophecy: “Miss Lucy. I had had my fill of dangerous old fairy tales and supernatural threats for one month, I assure you. I’m very sure that any number of people can ( ... )

Score!

I absolutely loved the challenge of taking on a new Holmes version - and such a charming one at that. LEGO Hound is cracky, but as you say it's got respect for the source material and genuine affection between Holmes and Watson that make the difference. Of course I picked up on that lovely last scene - in many ways more moving than the 3GAR revelation because Holmes deliberately bares his soul when they're both safe and after some thought, not as a panicked blurting in the middle of a dangerous situation.

Fortunately I'd seen The LEGO Movie earlier this year, so the crossover was a natural one. ('Course, I may have done it only to have Watson confront Batman ( ... )

I too know absolutely nothing about this 'verse, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this so much! To borrow Watson's word, there are too many excellent lines to pick a definitive favorite, but this one made me laugh out loud:

The cowled bat-fellow stood in the rafters high above and scowled down at us all for no reason, so we ignored him.

I love that I can recognize Holmes and Watson and their fantastic relationship no matter the setting. Thank you for sharing this!

Thanks! I'm glad my story did what it was supposed to do. And I didn't know a thing about LEGO Hound till I Googled it after seeing it in the wish-list. Cute and funny and surprisingly tender - even when they're LEGO figures the filmmaker understood that their friendship is the most important part of the story. So I did the same.
