Yay! What great ideas! And so very well written. I don't think I'd have enjoyed the film, but I certainly do this fic.

Hee, thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed this :) The film is, in my opinion, strange. Much of the convoluted plot and odd camerawork hasn't aged particularly well, but Plummer and Mason are really delightful as Holmes and Watson and that's enough to endear the movie to me. Thanks a lot for trying out the fic even thought the 'verse didn't appeal, that was quite lovely of you!

[reading on phone] Extraordinary and beautifully done. More when home and using a real keyboard.

What a wonderful idea for a fic! And so very well executed, with lovely fluidity, spot-on tone and a clear empathy for your leading man. I love your Mycroft, resilient and adventurous in his own way, and so very much the uber-analyst that Doyle describes. In my mind's eye he's Charles Grey, one of my favourite Mycrofts.

A very enjoyable read, mystery author!

Thank you so much! You've mentioned before that Mycroft is your favorite character, so I was doubly pleased to see that you enjoyed this take on him. Also, I love the Granada series and am very glad that this fic called Grey's performance to mind!

I really appreciate your reading and commenting, thank you <3

Home now, where it's much easier to type, and involves far less argument with auto-correct software.

This is a wonderful and wondrous story, very much in the spirit of its source material and sensitive to all the right parts of both the movie and the underlying canon. In particular, let me single out the moment in which (Sherlock) Holmes and Watson are talking over one another and invoking the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers; that scene catches exactly the note of exasperated devotion that Plummer and Mason played so very well in the movie, and thereby brings both actors into the mind's eye to play out the scene in this reader's head.

It's also an excellently reasoned working-out of what would happen to Mycroft in the wake of the movie's events...and I agree that in this universe (unlike, say, the Mary Russell canon), Mycroft would be a casualty rather than a conspirator. The glimpses of Holmesian family history are ingenious, tantalizing, and utterly plausible -- and I laughed out loud when Mycroft revealed his artistic nom de ( ... )

Thank you so much, graycardinal, for such a detailed, insightful, and lovely comment. It absolutely made my day to receive it, and I am so happy that you enjoyed this story! I was excited to get the chance to write something for you in this exchange. As soon as I got my assignment I realized that the mods must simply have run out of More!Holmesians, and I knew it must have saddened them to pair you with someone who only matched you on ACD canon. So I decided right away to pick something else from your list, since you so clearly preferred to have a gift that ventured off the beaten track. (I also knew that would make me a dark horse once we reached the guessing stage, so my apologies to your spreadsheets ( ... )

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you liked it. I really didn't know who Mycroft would be outside of the government, but it was fun to try and find out :)
