Oooh, this was so, so lovely and full of so many things that I love very much, such as first and foremost a truly excellent Mycroft POV.

The conversation between Mycroft and Sherlock wherein the latter sort of forgives him, all in order to defeat Moriarty and keep John safe (poor Mycroft!), is absolutely wonderful. So many great lines. Such as:
“My new archenemy.”
“Ah.” Mycroft laid a hand against his heart. “I hope you realise how much it saddens me to have to relinquish that place.”
Or: At heart, Sherlock was such a conservative being. What a brilliant observation ( ... )

Well, just like I'd figured out which fic you had written I guess you had figured out who had written your gift. I really wanted to give you a Lestrade/Sherlock fic but I'm afraid the pull of the Holmes brothers was, as ever, too strong.

Thankfully, by situating Mycroft in his office, I was able to work in quite a lot of Anthea. I hoped that would be a little to your liking at least and am gratified to find it was, apparently.

You know, when I signed up for this round, I thought that there was a pretty high probability that I would either get to write something for you or that I'd receive a gift from you, given our mutual appreciation of the Holmes brothers. Who says that all I want is Sherlock/Lestrade when I can also have driving!Mycroft being too distracted by his pretty little brother to mind the traffic? :)

Thanks again for your wonderful gift. ♥

I was hoping you wouldn't mind that and I'm very glad to read you didn't. :)

Mycroft's lifelong care and guidance of Sherlock is really touching.

I loved Mycroft's POV. The character studies of Mycroft, Sherlock and Mummy all worked to explain the point they had reached so many years later. The explanation of Mycroft's lie being the traumatic wound rather than Redbeard's death was beautifully and convincingly portrayed. The quicker sketches of John's grief-stricken face in the traffic and Mrs Hudson's sadness over tea were brilliant. As for Mummy, I can quite see how Sherlock has a list and Mycroft a file of complaints.

The symbolism of the last scene worked so well.

Mycroft turned to cast one last look at it but found that suddenly, what drew his eye was not The Tower but the bridge.

A beautiful closing line.

Brava!

My marvellous beta suggested I end the fic with Mycroft looking at Tower Bridge to be honest, so she should get the full credit for that.

Thank you for reading and commenting and for pointing out what you liked in the fic. I appreciate it very much.
