This is one of the best alpha/beta/omega stories I've read and I love this take on the reunion! Mary is an engaging, complicated individual who is clearly a good judge of character (of course, she'd try to get a legover) and the ending is brilliant!

Omegaverse has it's fans and its detractors, but I was delighted to write in something that is so clearly a fannish space, created by us, for us.

Mary is FANTASTIC. She's very attracted to John, and getting a taste of him is almost counting coup against Sherlock before she helps John get his head on straight.

I was happy with the resolution, so I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks, saki101!

this is fascinating, wonderfully written (“the lactonic sweetness of an omega clashing with tannic undertones more typical of an alpha”) and just really, really well done. i’m completely won over by your mary (combat boots!), and watching her go toe to toe with sherlock is one of my favorites. i love the path their verbal sparring takes-“Sherlock needed to push her that last little bit”-and mary’s reaction: “No, I worked long and hard to be exactly who I am. What's your excuse?” just fantastic, all of the dialogue. and this completely killed me, coupled with the sontag quotation: "But then, this morning, she showed me some other photographs she's taken, ones of us together, that she'd no intention of publishing. I suppose I'd always assumed that it was someone's scent that would tell me that they, they cared, but you've always been … unique. And I think perhaps you've been as blind to it as I have. So you need to let me explain this, as clearly as I can ( ... )

Of course Mary wears combat boots! I had such a good time writing the clash between her and Sherlock, you have no idea. And I am so, so glad that you felt the resonance between the Sontag quote and that key moment.

Thank you for giving me an excuse to write omegaverse. The exploration of the shared fannish space was a terrific experience.

My favourite thing about omegaverse is that it inspires some truly creative worldbuilding efforts - and this was a perfect example. Loved the complexity you managed to show not just in their characters but also their gender and sexual identities, as well as their backgrounds and personalities, and all in such a short space. A masterful piece of short fiction, and enjoyable as well! Oh, and I just loved Mary, she was a real fireball.

Mary was so much fun to write! I'm glad you appreciated her.

Omegaverse constantly fascinated me. It's something created entirely by fans, for fans, and it allows for some truly unique explorations of gender and sexuality. Also, some fantastic porn, which I managed to completely side-step here. Oops?

Thanks so much for the comment!

I love your kick-ass Mary! All three make me smile, as they individually subvert the expectations of others. Together--they'd be unstoppable :)

Mary was a blast to write. And you are so right - together they are a force to be reckoned with. Thanks, mackiedockie!
