THIS! ABSOLUTELY THIS!

Guh! I'm... incoherent over this piece of absolute brilliance! Everything about this makes me incredibly happy. What an amazing gift :D Beautifully written and wonderfully clever (and totally hot). I love the rhythm of this-- between Sherlock's actions and his "cinema," and then with John at the end! ABSOLUTE LOVE!!
Thank you so much!

I'm so glad you liked it. :-) I'd been kicking myself since this posted that I forgot to include notes when I submitted. I wanted to say, among other things, that the film clips are all from real films (and it amused me picking out what to use!). I went for pining and almost ended it on a sad note, but I just couldn't help myself with the happy ending!

Wow, this is lovely!

Especially that first scene: I just finished the story and then re-read it twice. From the opening line you characterize Sherlock so deftly, and set such a fragile mood I was almost holding my breath. I love the way you interwove Sherlock's observations of John with their conversation and his work at the microscope -- it really highlighted the way observation and curiosity is an integral part of Sherlock's personality, and not just a party trick he turns on when he needs it. And his longing for John came through so clearly even with so little outward manifestation or inner acknowledgement.

Thanks so much for sharing this!

Oh, I loved how Sherlock pined in this, in his very peculiar Sherlock manner. I loved how the "film reels" progressed. Wonderful work!

So much to praise here! Terrific idea to have Sherlock have a cinema in his mind palace and to go for one of the true movie palaces seems so right for him (and that he imagines what seem to be classic scenes from films?). The hints of the case, what we learn about the butterfly and the egg could be extraneous, but they are not. The egg being all wasted potential like the opening scene, with the reels as possible butterflies that could be born. Are any of those scenes real (or could become real) in the 'verse of this story? Finally, the sensual details are wonderful and further add to the beauty and tangibility of the reality(ies). Which are true, which are false?

Such gorgeous, tactile imagery, and a very telling sequence of fantasies. Well done!
