Arr, that first paragraph! I love that Mycroft toys with the idea of doing something awful. I love the tree falling in the woods. I love the way Irene fucks with him. The *conversation*! Everything about Irene from Mycroft's perspective is perfectly unsettling. I love the petty barbs, and the way Sherlock manages to get his digs in from offscreen.

You know when you introduce two people and they hit it off and you feel proud even though you had almost nothing to do with it? That's how I feel about this fic.

I love the structure, the way it highlights different aspects of the same situation, their different priorities.

I love Irene's determination to be playing her own game, and that she goes after Sherlock out of pique as much as anything else.

pointedly ignoring her hand on his thigh in that languid, utterly unconvincing way he had *hnrngh* There is nothing about what you've done with Sherlock and Irene that isn't sexy.

With Sherlock, Mycroft was never the right answer. \o/
