Lovely!
I enjoyed the additional exploration of the case, and how it lead to a bit of Watson's backstory. I especially loved hearing Brett's voice over the lovely dialog and his playful undressing of his Watson. "My love John." *clutches pearls*

I haven't seen this particular Granada episode, though I really want to now. I love Watson's reaction here, and it's just so heartbreaking to see how he connects the case to his childhood. The way you've structured the Holmes/Watson relationship here is also really sweet. Kudos!

It's one of their best - Edward Hardwicke, I think, said *the* best of his, and rightly so as he has a pivotal role which is wonderfully explored and expanded here - on You tube if you don't have the dvd.

Anon author, what a delight to see the fabulous Granada adaptation showcased and interpreted here, and such sweet and tender attentions from a not-so-cold-as-he-would-like-the-world-to-think detective.

Eeee! What a wonderful, fantastic, and unexpected gift, dear Anon! There is so much to love here, I hardly know where to begin. (Well, actually, I began by finding and watching The Priory School, which I hadn't seen in years, but remembered really enjoying at the time, and moreso again today!)

In that brief respite Holmes noticed that his friend was passing a hand over his face again and again.

I loved your Holmes, and how observant he was of all the tiny details. He was wonderfully caring and yet perfectly consistent with the Holmes in the Granada episodes. I could just see Jeremy Brett and hear his voice all throughout. And the running details about the meals perfectly matched the running jokes about food all throughout this particular episode. Brava!

"Why didn't you stop him? Why did you leave me alone?"

Thank you so much for giving an explanation as to Watson's inaction in that scene! Because that really bothered me, that he was following behind, was so close, and yet did nothing to try and rescue the boy. But of course it ( ... )
