Why has no one commented yet? I must rectify the situation:

I enjoyed the worldbuilding in this story, enough that I wondered how Mycroft's duel with Moriarty would play out (I assume his vision provides a few hints). The decision to make Mycroft forget most of the details seems sound; too much given away might make the battle too simple for MH.

Thank you so much! (I was fairly certain no one was going to comment on this; I'm delighted I was wrong.) I'm delighted to hear that you liked this! Yes, Mycroft's vision encompasses several Granada episodes to come. And it would definitely give Mycroft too much of an advantage if he remembered it. ;-)

I agree that this story is severely under-appreciated. It's such a unique idea, and a very clever interpretation of Mycroft's character - for, let's face it, some part of him is a little eerie - and the writing is simply masterful. I loved the image of that library, and how Mycroft could read Moriarty's persona from the way his name was written. Very well done, brava!

Didn't need the mental image of Granada!Mycroft in drag, though. *g*

You are a darling for saying so; thank you! I had a great deal of fun researching the Reading Room, for where else would a mystical Mycroft go to investigate a foe?

As for the drag, I just couldn't get past the realization that it was the same actor as Dr. Scott. And you have to admit that that image would be enough to shock Mycroft out of his visions!

Edited to add: And I almost forgot - you were absolutely right, and you get all the "ha! spotted you!" cookies in the world. :-)

You are an awesome writer, no matter how strange the topic. Even when it comes to, IDK, Mycroft in drag, for instance. :)

I loved this. What a fantastic idea and follow-through.

And no explanation of Dr Scott was necessary, for me; I could picture him in my head perfectly, as I read, and it made me smile.
