Ah, very nice. I have a real yen for this version of Watson when he's frustrated with this scruffy, frenetic, maddening Holmes. I love the touch of Watson casting dice in his dream, flinging his hand against the bedside table. Sexy work with the tempo and movement, too, adagio in the dark.

This was lovely and evocative and frequently hilarious (also hot. SO HOT). And so many, many bonus points for Yeomen of the Guard references!

Thank you, anon, for such a lovely fic! I love your musical motifs running throughout... I sort of ended up with a soundtrack in my head as I read. You've also managed a characterization that makes it really clear that we're seeing RDJ!Holmes and JL!Watson.

“Watson,” Holmes said, breaking away, panting. “It begs the question why you were kissing me.”

Watson could feel the hardness bulging in his trousers.

“It’s three in the morning!” he cried. “You’d been playing that damned violin all night!”

Re-reading, it's the pleasure in small things that makes this so lovely to read. The pleasure of the swelling motif is beautifully done, but it's the small touches - the antimacassar, the smell of roisin, the dice - that make this real. And your Holmes and Watson are so very much themselves. (Tiger teeth, too - I do remember that's canon!)

Bravo!
