Ooh, this was totally engrossing. Such great pacing and the ebb and flow of John's grief is fantastic. I love the sprinkling of other characters from canon and the use of technology ambushing John was perfectly done. I also appreciate the twist here that Sherlock didn't choose to make John think he was dead, but had no choice b/c of being incapacitated. I know it's not canon, but it makes me happier. :)

I Googled camel spiders once and had a nightmare shortly thereafter, so I know why John screamed when he saw one in his boot. (Did Moran put it there?)

I didn't know about sniper pairs; that was really interesting!

I like this fic a lot.

I don't even know what to say... because a simple "I adored this with the fire of a thousand burning suns" would be entirely insufficient. Dear anon, you have pushed every single one of my happy buttons, and made me aware of several I hadn't even known existed. Specifically, this is due to all the sparkly band-aids you put on things that made me go o__O in regards to ACD!Canon, and made these little nitpicks of mine make perfect sense. And how did you know that I've always hated Mycroft being made sole beneficiary in FINA when Watson should have been? Yup. You fixed that, too, and I'm tucking that small but very delightful bit into my personal head canon.

This was just so cleverly done, with the slow realization that Mycroft was using his wiles to flush out Moran being just about the best part - which is saying something, since I had so many lovely bits to choose from.

And that reunion, with John very nearly fainting - here... just have my heart. You've earned it <3

This is such a fantastic fic that I can't even begin to tell you!!!

I love the details you've put in. You've created such a believable and fully fledged BBC!Verse but kept enough details of ACD in there that it's just. Just. OMFG. YOU ARE JUST AWESOME, OKAY?!
