Meanwhile, back in their room...

[When John left the previous evening, he hadn't expected to be gone very long. But Irene's call for medical help had turned into something unexpected, but very welcome.

So it's not until the next morning that John finally makes his way back to room 4-13.]

((ooc: Back-dated to the morning of the 13th.))

[When John enters the room, he will see a Sherlock Holmes lying down on his mattress, facing the ceiling. He is in his sleep clothes and housecoat, so it's obvious that he doesn't plan on moving any time soon.

He's also surrounded by shrivelled up vegetables that have been experimented on; they're on the floor, directly next to his mattress, and forgotten by the detective for now. He's too busy reading this, something he found in the library. He must be either very bored or oddly interested in the narrative.

He hears John enter and doesn't even bother looking away from his book.]

Late.

[John tosses his medical bag on his bed and eyes the vegetables with concern.]

Er, yes, I suppose. Took longer than I expected. Why are there vegetables all over the floor?

Because I'm done experimenting with them. [Obviously. God, John.]

A house call that took all of last night?

[Sherlock is finally looking at John. Very. Carefully. For an extended moment.]

[And then just scoffs and returns to his book, muttering under his breath]

...predictable.

Well, it turned out to be more of a social call...

[John sighs and starts picking up vegetables so they won't get stepped on and squished. So he's right by the bed and hears Sherlock's comment.]

Sorry, what?

[Yes, well, standing this close, Sherlock can literally smell her on you, and he's frowning quite pointedly.]

Predictable. Expected. Foreseeable. Calculable. Anticipated. Shall I go on?
