Longest Running. Indeed.

I just read something truly amazing in that Sci-fi Magazine interview with Rob Cooper...

Carter gets promoted to full fledged Colonel at the beginning of Season 4! (And that's how she gets command of Atlantis.)

She gets promoted. Again. That's three, count 'em, three actual on screen promotions.

Captain --> Major.
Major --> Lt. Col.
Lt. Col. --> Col ( Read more... )

officers get promoted every 3-5 years if they don't fail at the military

Haha, yes, I can imagine failing at the military would be a hindrance in getting promoted.

I love how you phrased that. :D

Yeah, I mean I knew she got command, but somehow I didn't realize it came with a promotion. :)

Ah, but that's where I thought they could get away with it. Remember all the drama about how she technically outranked Mitchell and that they were technically "co-leaders" of SG-1 (except not really cuz Cam was the leader)? So with Shep who was very fresh on his promotion, Sam would definitely be in charge, and I knew they'd never stick her in the team cuz, come on, Shep's the leader, so the only logical thing would be to put her in charge and I thought they'd get away with it because of these so-called "rules" they established from SG-1.

And could that be a longer sentence? LOlz!

Oh I'm looking forward to it too. I just hate that it was one strong female for the other. And SGA had this whole different aspect to it as it was always a civilian expedition with Weir in charge. Now it's going to be straight up military. That's still awesome, but it's not the same. :)
