Yet more proof of JRR.com being an unofficial fansite

Oct 13, 2009 11:03

As if it weren't painfully obvious already that jrockrevolution.com is a completely unofficial fansite that gets the vast majority (at least) of its news by copying and regurgitating news from other secondary sources, check out this little bit of Dead End Princess fun ( Read more... )

Oh yeah, the Dead End subforum amuses me too. Especially since there wasn't even one single Dead End thread until someone made one a couple months ago. And then not long after, suddenly there was a whole subforum... for that one thread (eventually two). Huh?

A big, fat LOL is all JRR deserve. According to a few of my connections, most "official" Jorck fansites only connection to bands are through press passes. Nothing more than that.

And I was a member of Princess or who ever is running that myspace, I wouldn't be calling any of those fansites linked as "International Web Press Media". Maybe if it was an actually well known media outlet (like Rolling Stone for an example), then they could note it. But listing Jorck site as "press media" looks...er...rather lame if they're trying for some form of overseas success.

Interesting about the press passes; I'd already suspected that of a few sites, so that confirms it then. And from what I understand, press passes are nothing special at all, since nowadays they give them out to fan bloggers.

And yeah, seriously, about the links on the Myspace. Looks terribly unprofessional on the Princess' part any way you cut it-- it looks like whoever runs the Myspace either doesn't realize those are fansites (and part of a publicist's job should be noticing shit like that) or thinks fansites are good enough to count for "International Media". Either way it looks like it's the best coverage they could get-- not a good message to send.

Every time I read your posts about this it makes me so happy I got bored with JRR 5 minutes after the festival was over.

Oh, well when it comes to the festival itself, I was bored with it five minutes after I found out the band lineup. (Or not even five minutes. Unless I was reading exceptionally slowly that day.)
