It was a dark and stormy night that most writers often write about in Boston. McRory's Place was nearly deserted, with the exception of five of it's usual customers. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled, and a lone white owl was sitting in one of the trees that lined the sidewalk to the bar, watching what was going on inside.

"Let's take that from the top again, Parker," said Sophie as she handed pages of a script back to the young thief.

"Sophie, are you sure? I just have a really bad feeling about this."

"Parker, don't be silly!"
"B-but what if those goblins are real and can take someone away?"

"Parker, it's just fiction, goblins aren't real and they aren't going to take you away. Let's really get into it this time, yeah?"

Hardison and Nate were paying little mind as to what was going on. When it came to Sophie and her running lines, the better job they did at ignoring what was going on and not interrupting while she was 'in her zone', the less chance that they would be asked to run lines with her themselves.

"Oh, someone save me! Take me away from this awful place!" moaned Sophie as she threw her arms out and her head back.

Parker was doing her best to annoy the character that Sophie was playing.

"Stop it, or I'll say the words."

Parker continued to up the antics, not really meaning to frustrate Sophie, she was only doing as she had been asked.

"I wish- I wish- the goblins would come and take you away right now!"

Eliot had re-entered the bar at that moment, and he froze when he heard those words.

"Sophie, d-" but it was too late.

The power flashed out and all sorts of sounds started to come from the corners of the bar.

"Take it easy, I'm sure the power will come back on. I'll go to the backroom and get some candles," said Nate.

"Parker, you can come out now! Parker!" called out Sophie.

"W-what were you doing?" questioned Eliot.

"Running lines for a play."

"What play? What play, Sophie?!" he growled.

"Not you too! Parker said she had a bad feeling when she started running lines with me."
"Dammit Sophie, what play were you practicing?" yelled Eliot, as Nate returned with a flashlight and some candles.

As Nate was making his way back to the bar, something skittered past his leg and chittered.

"W-what was that?"

"I- I don't know man, but it's sure getting creepy in here," said Hardison as he called out into the bar. "Parker? Come on, woman, it's safe to come out. Eliot's not ticked at you!"

All of a sudden the doors to McRory's Place blew open with a gust of wind. A white owl flew in and then transformed itself into a man wearing black with spiky blond hair.

"You were practicing the Labyrinth weren't you?" questioned Eliot more to himself than to Sophie when he saw what was happening before his eyes.

Sophie who had heard him just nodded her head in response.

"Ah, free at last, I owe you my pet."

"Bring her back. It's only a play. I- I didn't mean it!" pleaded Sophie.

"What's said is said, Sophie. Go back on about your practicing and scheming. Forget about Parker, she's mine now."

"Aw, hell no!"  protested Hardison as he started to make a move towards the man.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

"Who are you?" questioned Nate still not believing his eyes.

If this didn't make him want to give up drinking, or start drinking again, he didn't know what would!

"Jareth, King of the Goblins and Goblin City."

"Bring Parker back, we need her!" pleaded Sophie yet again.

"I have a gift for you," said Jareth as he produced a crystal sphere out of thin air with a wave of his hand.

"I don't want your gift you wanker! I want Parker back!"
    Jareth let out a sigh.

"So be it," he declared, and with another wave of his hand all five of them were transported out of McRory's Place to a strange world.

"You have thirteen hours to reach the center of the Labyrinth or Parker becomes one of us... forever."

Hardison visibly gulped when he saw how far away the center of the Labyrinth was from where they were standing.

"All right, let's start moving," said Nate.

"Sh-shouldn't we split up? Cover more ground that way?" questioned Sophie.

"No! That's exactly what he wants us to do. We're sticking together!" growled Eliot.

Nate raised an eyebrow at Eliot's reaction, but said nothing. Was Eliot not telling them something? Did he know more about the Labyrinth and this Jareth character then he was letting on? Or did he just want to find Parker and get the hell out of this world?

"Eliot's right, Sophie. We all need to stick together. Getting Parker back is the goal, we don't want to have to rescue anyone of the rest of us if we split up" Nate decided, "Let's go steal ourselves a Parker."

*******************************************************************

"Left or right?" questioned Hardison after what seemed like hours of walking straight.

"Does it look like we can turn anywhere? Does it!" growled Eliot.

He hated being in this place. Why Sophie had to pick this particular play he had no idea. Now they were stuck here, and who was to say that if they couldn't find Parker in those thirteen hours Jareth had given them that they would be sent back, or that Jareth would keep them?

"Uh, guys, why don't we ask whatever that is over there. Maybe we can get some help," said Nate, as he noticed what appeared to be a man of short stature wearing a leather cap on his head.

Meanwhile, Parker was trying for what seemed like the umpteenth time to force open the heavy stone door that sealed the room that she was in. She gave that up and went back to the window again. She looked down; it was a long drop to the ground below, and without her rappelling gear, and nothing suitable at all in the room to use instead, it wasn't worth it.

"Let me out of here!" she yelled again, as she raced back to the door and pounded on it.

"Save your hands," came a female voice.

Parker whirled around to face another woman, wondering where she had come from. She was about Parker's height with dark curly brown hair that was pulled back from her face, and she had bright blue eyes that seemed to remind Parker of someone that she knew.

"Wh-where did you come from?"

"T-the wardrobe. I-I wh-when you arrived here, I- I got a little nervous and hid. H-he's back isn't he?"

"If you mean the guy that can turn himself into an owl, yeah," grumbled Parker.

She had been able to see everything that had happened in the bar up to a certain point until she tried to grab the crystal and yell into it, then it burst.

"H-his name is Jareth."

"How long have you been here?"

"I'm-I'm not sure. Time really doesn't have much meaning here."

"What's your name?"

"Lily."

"I'm Parker."

"Nice to meet you." said Lily as she moved to straighten some of the things that Parker had tossed around in the room.

Parker watched Lily's movements trying to size her up.

"How do I know that you're not working for him?"

"I can only give you my word that I am not," said Lily as they both heard the stone door start to slide open.

A goblin entered, bearing a tray of food for the two of them.

Back in the outskirts of Goblin City...

"Uh-excuse me?" said Nate trying to get the small man's attention.

The man whirled around to face Nate. He had white hair under the leather cap, very pronounced eyebrows, a huge bulbous nose, and beady blue eyes.

"What do you want?" he moaned.

"We're trying to find the entrance to the Labyrinth."

"Let me give you some advice - it ain't worth it."

"Our friend was taken and we need to get her back," said Sophie.

"Can't help," he replied with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Hey, you! You're gonna help us get into that Labyrinth or you're gonna have me to deal with!" growled Eliot as he hoisted up the man -correction, goblin, and started to shake him.

"Argh! All right, all right! But it ain't gonna be easy. Now, put me down!"

Eliot set the goblin down. The goblin muttered to himself as he readjusted his clothes and brushed imaginary dust off them, then he looked at Eliot. There was something about him that he couldn't put his finger on, something familiar.

"Do I know you?"
"No, you don't. Let's get moving, pipsqueak."

"It Hoggle!" the goblin yelled at Eliot with a stamp of his foot.

"You sure we can trust him?" questioned Hardison, looking at Nate.
