That was a beautiful post. I think that a lot of times adoption has this weird stigma connected to it. Like people feel like the adopted child won't be loved as much or included as much. But I think its so beautiful that someone chose you and loves you despite not being a part of your bloodline -- because thats all it really is. I worked with a girl who was adopted and struggled with it a lot because she had a biological brother. But that child is so lucky and so loved.
And you are right, you can choose family and adopt people into you life. And that in itself is an amazing way too look at things.

Speaking from an adoptee's perspective, I have never felt less loved or less cared for because of being adopted. If anything, I have felt MORE wanted and special because of it. That's not to say I was never accosted by people unfamiliar with the process, but that has never stopped me from being a a fierce advocate for adoption. I think it's given me the ability to look at families with an incredibly different perspective. I appreciate that you share my world view. And I love the fact that I'm not saddled up with this family I can't tolerate, and that I've been blessed with the ability to choose who I spend my time with. I feel truly, truly lucky. And grateful. ♥
