AHH!!! I love this soo much!!! I like Kirk/Sulu, I really do, but rarely when I read them do they ring true to me. They look good together, and obviously have a lot of great Chemistry, and, as sulu says, kirk's a great guy, but Chekov is HIS guy. I love how despite their connection , they were still both stuck on their best friends. I LOVE how cool Pavel is through all of this, even though by the end we know he's probably been angsting his leetle russian heart out, he is an awesome friend to Sulu throughout this. I think i really appreciate the development in Jim's character, especially the idea that Jim and the newly minted captain kirk are different people. And of course i like to think that this Jim has changed just in time to be the one for McCoy. That last line, connecting the now now now with Pavel waiting to step in... FUCKING GENIUS. I think what I also like about your stories is that you pay such close attention to detail, little things that make the story so real, like the chip crumbs, and the blade of grass and the ( ... )

Thank you!! It's a pairing that works well for me as long as Pavel isn't around ... and I usually factor him in ... then have to go the angsty threesome route, lol. But I also really love the idea of Sulu and Chekov taking care of each other and McCoy taking Kirk in hand. :3

And yeah Pavel was just determined to be cool and hang back ... I love the idea of what happens on the drill being pivotal in the relationships of these three, and the many different ways that could affect them. In this case yeah, it becomes a kind of moment where Jim ends for Sulu, and Captain Kirk begins.

I'm glad you liked the last line, and the details, and I really appreciate the comment, thanks. :)

gjkhdf peaches <3333

I was really surprised by how much i enjoyed the ending of this one!! there was a lot going on but chekov just stepped in and made it so obvious and simple what sulu needed ;____________; I LOVED this: “Jesus,” Hikaru said. “What if I hadn't lived?” like fglkjadfglka that's such an understated but perfect way of saying how much they mean to each other??? like Kirk goes "I just want to fuck you" and sulu realizes that he needed to have Chekov before he died ;___; idk this was really really great and I love all the descriptions of taste and hunger in this, lol, I went shopping and found myself craving peaches and I didn't realize why until I came back and reread this lolll.

Also the kirk/sulu scene was like, by far one of the hottest ever lol I am a little grateful for this because I've been digging through "whatever a moon" for a default hot sulu/kirk scene, and now I can just click this one and like, scroll twice lol :x

I love your Kirk although it's never really my Kirk. Which is fascinating and thrilling. Love to read how your Sulu and Chekov kind of act as mirrors for Kirk's actions and characterization, more so than if Kirk would ever offer his own POV, like here:

He thought of all the parties Jim would be invited to tonight, the doors that were open to him now. But it had always been that way for him: a borrowed key for every bed he found himself sleeping in.

And:

didn't you hear, during the ceremony? the message read. I'm not a fuckup anymore. I graduated to smug asshole.
You were already a smug asshole Hikaru sent back, and Pavel laughed as he watched him type it.

Just awesome.
