Oh, I treat myself all the time. That's the problem. I have debt and should start saving more, yet I treat myself far more than I ought to. Grant you, this is the most expensive indulgence I've incurred as of late, but I really should cut that sort of shit out -_-
Well, what I bought was Till Lindemann's book of poetry, "Messer". I've wanted it for AGES, but it's just not something you find in America. So I gave in and ordered it off Amazon. The $35 was the cheapest they got :/
Ahhh, international book sales... I am all too familiar with such sales. As an Anglophile married to a Brit, my husband and I buy our fair share of British books through Amazon UK. At best, the shipping is almost as much at the actual book.
I really want to find this book now that I know that you wanted to buy it so badly.

That is my take, anyhow.

Enjoy your splurge thoroughly, and then be diligent in your efforts to be thrifty. Thriftiness is tough, I feel your frustration/financial ouchie.
As a bibliomaniac, I must ask: is the book worth the forty dollars you paid for it?
In other words, do you recommend it? Or should I just wait to check it out fromt he library or borrow the book(long-term) from an unsuspecting friend?
PS I LOVE your purse. I want 98% of your buttons.
