13. Writing sample - Third Person Prose: Talia stared out over the railing of the MS Elegante, her hazel eyes fixed on a point far off in the horizon. It had only been a few days since she had been accosted, or saved dependent upon the point of view, and brought to live on the sea-faring vessel, but it had seemed already a good deal longer.
She was certain, if she inquired, that there would be any number of passengers willing to help her keep herself busy. She was certain she could inquire of any of the crew and find tasks she was capable of doing.
However, her mind was elsewhere. In truth, her mind was on another world entirely; a world she was told that she was better off putting behind her. Her hand balled into a fist at the thought, brows knitting in frustration as a savage shake of her head followed. "No," she breathed softly, throat tight around the word. She refused to concede that everything she knew was no more. She refused to accept that her beloved Companion had been forcibly taken from her, along with her life-bonded,

14. Writing sample - First Person Prose: [There is a muffled sound of surprise from behind the heavy wooden door. A moment passes and then anyone in the vicinity might hear the mournful cry that echoes from behind the door. There is a brief bit of crashing, several things being overturned before the door swings open and Talia stands panting on its threshold.
Her hazel gaze is panicked as it falls to the unfamiliar key in the door, and though different from the key she'd had a short time ago on the Elegante, there was no doubt that this was meant for her as well. Wrenching it free of the lock she stumbles out of the room, cheeks slightly more pronounced than an entirely well nourished persons' might be. If one could see beneath her garments, they would find much the same. The survivors on the Golden Shore had been managing just that; to survive, if not exactly thrive. Her wide gaze darts around the hallway, chest heaving as she keeps her panic and hysteria held at bay by sheer will alone.]No .. No no .. nononono. NO. Not again. Not

My name is Herald Talia of Valdemar, empath and protector of her lands and throne. I know not where this place is that I have been brought.. Only, according to this missive, that its name be Holloway's Keep and that I have been brought here as a means of saving my life. Forgive me if I sound either doubtful of this missive or the promise that all shall be restored. I have heard a similar tale in the past and it, by no manner, resulted the way promised to us ..
[A beat of silence. If only you knew how close she was to being horribly unhinged by all this.]
I was not alone when I was rescued and .. [A break then, her voice cracking.] Be there any likelihood that others were brought from my world? Others from the Golden Shore? I .. I cannot start over again .. Not alone and not after finding a degree of peace to my mind and soul..
