I updated the guide to experimental formatting per the excellent advice of sailorptah and zvi_likes_tv, although I am still not sure how people found out about it in the first place, but anyway it is a better version now

Well, of course there were Jews in Rome by that time - Palestine being under Roman rule and all - and probably some of them were reasonably successful, but I haven't heard much tell of Jewish political prominence in Rome around then, not that I'm an expert. Offhand, it seems like any religiously observant Jew probably would've encountered difficulties pretty quickly in a political career in Rome, being barred from acknowledging emperors as gods and all...

I figured it was likely, I had just wanted to double-check - but yeah, it really seems unlikely that a Jewish man would be considered an upper-class citizen in Rome, even if he were rich as fuck. o.~ Oh well, it's not really worth wasting any classicist indignation over a Harry Potter RPF vampire AU...
