Well, given your age, the fact that you're from a pretty urban environment, and from what I can guess about your upbringing that really isn't shocking. You're trying to do your thing and I'm with you on that. Besides the fact that babies seem to hate me, they probably feel any animosity I have toward them. But I do respect motherhood, the birthing process, I've actually entertained the idea of becoming a midwife. I have a pretty strong stomach for most things medical, but I've seen my friend's aunt give birth and it's beyond extraordinary and absolutely beautiful and I cried. The idea of experiencing it scares me shitless. So yeah, there may be a time where we'll wanna have kids, I honestly think one's 20s aren't the best time to have kids anyway. As far as your own development, it seems like you'd be better suited for parenthood in your 30s or so and I'm not just saying that because my mother had be in her 30s and she was amazing. There comes a time in your life when you're less selfish and ready to handle the responsibilities of

the fact that you're from a pretty urban environment
I'm actually from Rural town, USA...or the Boonies as I like to call it. I grew up in white bread America with goats and graduated with 63 people....and as a kid that was fine and dandy. However, I definitely a fan of urban sprawl now. I think New Paltz is really the best mix of both suburbia and urban culture.

Babies actually love me. I have no idea why but they do. For instance, once I was in VS and this infant kept crying and crying and crying. Nothing and no one would shut it up. So I just pointed at it on a whim. Suddenly I was its new BFF and it just beamed at me the whole time. When his mom tried to leave he started weeping again.

I agree, I couldn't be with someone with who was SUPER INTO RELIGION, or wanted babies RIGHT NOW, either. :/ Mostly for the same reasons you listed, too, lol.
I have my kitty, Andrew, and a doll collection. Those are more than enough for me to "mother" for now. XD;
This is because we are magical and on the same wavelength of awesome. Or so I have decided right at this very moment.

Aww...now that's the kind of life I could embrace. I certainly hope the guy I end up with can come to love my Pullips. They still freak the bejesus out of my mom XD;
You and Andrew are super adorable though I must say. I really hope to have my own version of what you guys have one day.
Whether or not you actively long to produce a child from your womb, you are not without the instinctual drive toward the deed.
I acknowledge most everyone of us is instilled with it from birth but, seriously, mine is dwindling in the red, empty, null and void category of life. This isn't to say four years down the road...ten...fifteen the old biological clock won't suddenly hard wire itself but right now? Definitely dead as a door nail.
"Love" (the art of courting) and literal procreation are both part of the instinct-driven process which leads to bebies.
True. I think love also has a lot to do with humans need not to be alone...our innate nature as social creatures. We want someone to share our lives with...and yes, to have babies with. I'm just going with the first part right now. Phooie to babies! Phooie!
Anyway, you're not alone! It's been proven that our generation has less interest in child-having than ever.Actually, click the link to the NYTimes article I posted. Its what prompted part of this entry actually. I was
