OMG -- that sounds way too familiar.

I just took most of two weeks off -- the "use it or lose it" syndrome -- and couldn't wait to get back to work.

Dammit, it's winter -- in Chicago! Why on earth would I want to take a vacation?

I think I may appease The Spouse and take a day from that week, but not the whole week. I occasionally schedule what I call "mental health days", meaning I just take the day for no reason. I tend to take entire days off for doctor and dental appointments, but on mental health days, I have nothing on the boards an dgo do whatever I want (as long as I pick up the kids on time). I'll save the other days for a real vacation, if we take one this year.

I used to do that when I had a job that had a serious impact on my mental health, but I would take them as vacation (which is what we called it way back then) -- I just did them as self-awarded comp time.

My problem with this job is that I'm only here half-time, so what do I need a vacation from, exactly?

that should be "wouldn't take them as vacation" -- I got plenty of that, too, and believe I used it.
