Name: Toyin

Age: 22

Favourite Subject at Hogwarts: Transfiguration. I am intrigued by the idea of being able to transform dull objects into things a=either unexpected for their inanimate or animate natures, or simply the art of doing so. I am an artist, and as such it is often an obsession for artists to seek the beautiful out of the mundane or unassuming.

How do you spend your leisure time at Hogwarts?: Either creating art at a studio or reading (fiction, nonfiction, etc., it doesn't matter).

If you could store one memory in a Pensieve, what would it be? My memories of when I was living in Nigeria as a little child. Lately, these precious memories seem to be "leaving" me.

If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into?: The worst part of my subconscious manifested.

What would you see in the Mirror of Erised?: Being a successful artist and a role model.

What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself? Stop worrying so much of what other people think of you. Cliché, but ever so poignant to so many of us. Insecurity can be so inhibiting.

Would you have put your name in the Goblet of Fire?: No. I am not one to go meddling into things that I do not see a purpose for. This is why I found Harry, Ron, and Hermione's "adventures" throughout Hogwarts so off-putting. Sure, there were reasons for their explorations, but in all honesty, I found their actions more attention seeking and noisy than brave. Do what you must and only meddle when you are sure you are ready for the truths you will find.

Harry Potter: Hero, Attention-Seeker, or Normal Kid in a Bad Situation? And Why? Initially, I found him quite idiotic. Constantly searching for things that will only bring him harm. At first, I did not think he was attention-seeking, but as I read the books further, I found him to be a bit annoying. You feel for Harry, however, for his situation. In short, I just found him a bit too "brave" for my own tastes, what ever "bravery" means anymore.

Voldemort: Evil, Genius, or just plain Misunderstood? And why? I would say misunderstood at first, because he is introduced as this sort of awful, mysterious, power-hungry persona. As you read further, you find him to be wanting the same things Harry wants: attention from the people he admired most. This can be positive and negative, and in his case, it was definitely not a positive transition. Instead of being coming powerful to be more secure in himself, he wanted to destroy every kind of threat to his power for fear of losing in. I find people like himself delusional. There is no need to destroy, when one can learn, appreciate and grow instead.

Under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?: If someone were threatening my life or the lives of those most dear to me -- without hesitation.

What single quality goes the furthest in defining who you are?: Negotiable, or should I say... Compromising. (Basically, I am always willing to argue and listen, there is no need for action, when we all can simply talk/communicate with one another as civil individuals)

What makes a person respectable?: His/her willingness to admit they are wrong and do what he/she feels is truly right when it seems everyone is against you.

If you had to choose between your family, your friends, and your own beliefs, what would you do? I just couldn't. each is inextricable in my life and I am dependent on all of them. I cannot choose, because they are simply too connected to separate into black and white terms.

What do you look for in a friend? : Honesty, Intelligence (in all its forms), Kindness and Humor.

Put the following words in order of importance to you: Duty, Family, Friendship, Honor, Justice, Power, Tradition: Friends, Family, Justice, Honor, Tradition, Power, Duty

If you could have either a well paid easy job that did not task you mentally, or a lower paying job which gave you the freedom to pursue your interests, which would you choose? Lower paying work would be ideal for me (practically, a principle); however, considering my skills limited to the arts, I find it would be better to have a higher paying job which will give me the means to pursue my personal passions outside of work on my own.

What qualities do you possess from each of the four houses?:
Gryffindor: Social, Passionate, Fair (as in exhibiting Fairness in every situation, not in beauty)

Hufflepuff: Loyal, Frank, Hard-Working, Intuitive, Open

Ravenclaw: Honest, Clever, Intelligent, Introspective, Creative/Artistic, Cosmopolitan (as in knowing of the world -- or having some sort of wanderlust-- and having nothing to do with Carrie Bradshaw), Practical

Slytherin: Logical, Perfectionist, (not too) Competitive

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?: My ability to control my sleep patterns which in turn affects my time management. It seems I am forever in debt with sleep and my subconscious self will never be satisfied.

If you were an animagus, what would you turn into? (Assuming that the animal reflects the person, it is not chosen.): Black Panther. Quite honestly, not to sound cool at all. But Panthers do not taunt, nor they cause trouble. They tend to strike when someone taunts or attacks them. They are reactive, and sometimes, there is nothing wrong with that. They also seem protect their own without question, but that is true of most mammals.

In which house do you think you belong, and why?: Undoubtedly, Ravenclaw. Simply because I am always seeking knowledge/information of or about things, ideas, applications, people, etc. Everything in this world you can think of will pique my interest. I never shun anything or say it is not for me. I am willing to learn and once I get a taste of it then i will decide whether it is for me or not. I guess you can say, I’m always curious to learn new things....

How did you find us? If it was from a post say where and who posted it.: I looked up Hogwarts on the LJ interest search and this was one of the many communities that popped up. I was interested because it states they this community is one of the original sorting hat communities on LJ.
