To Strong Bad, there's nothing unfashionable about wearing red and orange together.
"Would you kill Homsar for a hot chocolate?" he answers her. She probably didn't see him there before he spoke. He's ... not all that tall by human standards, even if he is taller than Homsar, 'everyone's favorite blue midget Homestar'.
"Wouldn't mind some myself." Gwen was awake, you don't have a job like hers and keep that normal hours anymore. "I hope you won't be killin' anyone though."
'I forget how everyone can be so literal here,' Mel grins in reply. 'I sometimes slip back into my old mindset. No killing here. Even if it does mean no cocoa.'
Elizabeth, bothered by the fact that she was to sleep in an unfamiliar dormitory and that her trunk of clothes had mysteriously appeared at the foot of her bed, was restlessly walking through the school. What could Charlotte think of her, and then her clothes disappearing?
Furthermore, why, of all people to suddenly appear at Hogwarts, did Mr.Darcy have to come? His cousin, Col. Fitzwilliam would be infinitely more welcome, and... Elizabeth admitted that she would rather suffer Mr. Darcy's company than his aunt, Lady Catherine's, but it was very vexing indeed that Mr. Darcy appeared to following her.
Her wanderings took her to the Great Hall, and Elizabeth smiled at the sight of Mel. "Hello, Mel. I could enjoy the benefits of a cup of chocolate as well. Shall we call a House Elf?"
Elizabeth sat down heavily and, placing her elbow on the table, leaned her cheek on her hand. "I was hoping to forget that. I don't think Mr. Darcy is a stalker, since, doubtless, he finds me as disagreeable as I find him. He never looks at me but to criticize. However, it is extraordinarily vexing that he should appear once more."
The House Elf appeared with two mugs of hot chocolate and Lizzy took one, amused. "This was not entirely what I was expecting, but thank you. Back home, we served chocolate a bit like tea. But I digress. Does this make Mr. Darcy a... stalker, was it?"
Mel thinks. 'As long as he's not, you know, threatening you or declaring love to you or leaving horse heads in your bed. And I suppose it is true people can come into Hogwarts at any time...maybe give him the benefit of the doubt this time, but watch him?'
She sips the hot chocolate, eyes glittering. 'Not as good as mine back home. But then I can't stand tea.'
Elizabeth set the mug down and patted Mel gently on the hand until the moment had passed. With an equally gentle smile, she replied, "It is very dull indeed when compared with yours. I live with my mother, father, and five sisters at our family estate of Longbourne. Longbourne is by the town of Meryton, in Derbyshire, and, according to some, very sadly isolated. We have an aunt and uncle Gardiner in London, and we visit them from time to time, and I am fortunate enough to travel with them when they vacation. I was but recently in Kent, where I was visiting my friend Charlotte Collins, nee Lucas. I sorry to say that there has been very little else in my life with much distinction." She smiled again. "Is there anything else you care to know? I imagine my life must seem as strange to you as your life seems to me."
Elizabeth laughed. "You have no idea. Needless fights for ribbons, horrible arguments for the piano- forte, shouting matches over dresses...."
Lizzy shook her head, amused. "If it wasn't for Jane, I doubt I should be as happy as I am to have sisters. She is the eldest sister, and is the best and dearest friend I could ever imagine or ask for." She paused a moment to take another sip of her hot chocolate. "Then I am the second eldest, followed by Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. Mary keeps her own council, most days, and Kitty and Lydia attempt to outdo each other in silliness."

'I...well, it's a figure of speech, and I don't think I've, um, met Homsar. Or, er, you.'
She would definitely have remembered.
'I'm Mel.'

Even if 'Mel' sounded more like the name of some guy who runs a diner than a name for a lady.
"The name's Strong Bad," he said, in his best suggestive voice. "What brings you to the Great Hall at this hour?"

Diner? Mel might recognise it as a bloke called Barry who runs the local greasy spoon. Except Barry is nothing like Mel. Yeah.

Suddenly, she remembers.
'Mr. Darcy's here. That stalker bloke. I left the Sorting room as soon as I realised, so I might have missed you--'
