Camilla nodded. "The portrait's very nice, but she won't let me in. She's very apologetic about it. I'm supposed to have a password to give her?"

Oliver was sitting n one of the overstuffed chairs in the common room. He saw a new girl talking to that rotten scoundrel the current Gryffindor Quidditch Captain and a man he didn't recognize. "Hullo," he said to the two unfamiliar people, while trying to pretend that Adam didn't exist.

Camilla, hearing a new voice, turned. "Hello," she answered, pleasantly. "I don't remember you from my Sorting. I'm new -- Camilla Macaulay."

"Sorry about that," he said, "I really haven't made it to a lot of Sortings lately." He looked her up and down, but tried to be discrete about it. "It's a shame, really. I might miss out on my next star player."

"Star player?" Camilla was curious. "I'm a good hand at lawn croquet, and euchre. I think you're probably talking about something a bit more organised?"
