Semi-Open RP: Jack holding interviews.

Sep 30, 2006 18:30

The classroom looked more like a store room for Halloween props than anything else. On the floor were several wheeled steel contraptions, on which various beautifully tailored costumes hung, ready to be tried on by those lovely volunteers that should be showing up any minute now. On a desk in the corner was an assortment of Halloween face-paint ( Read more... )

Rose mooches about in the corridor, waiting like a good girl for once. She has no idea what Jack looks like, or if he is a melonfarming dude. She can just hope for the best.

Jack grinned widely as he spotted the child.

"Well hello there!" he exclaimed. "Are you one of my volunteers?"

He raised his clipboard, hovering with his quill over the list of names, ready to tick her off as one who showed up as soon as she says her name.

'Yes, my name is Rose Casson,' she says, turning. 'How come we need to be interviewed?'

"Rose, Rose, Rose... Oh yes. The Decapitated Artist, correct?"

He waved a bony hand absently. "Oh, it is really just a formality, to see what you can and can't to, and to try out your costume... Do come in!" He stepped aside, pushing the classroom door open for her.

Osaka wanders in, enthralled by the costumes and accessories. It's almost like the Culture Fairs back at her old school. She waves at the skeleton. "Hello, Jack-san!"

"Well hello!" grinned Jack, holding up his clipboard. "And what do you want to be for Halloween?"

He got up his quill, ready to note down her name.

"I think I'd still like to be a plaster wall monster. You'd just be walking along, and then I'd move and trap you and there'd be no escape!"

"Oh yes, that would make you Miss Osaka, then?" asked Jack, making a note of it. "That is a very intriguing costume... Not one I've heard of before, and I pride myself in knowing these things. So, shall you be dressed as an actual wall, or would you be more interested in some sort of invisibility garment?"

Anya entered the classroom and looked around for Jack. "Hello?"

"Ah, Anya!" exclaimed Jack and looked up from his notes to grin at her. "I was hoping you'd drop by. You'd like to see your costume, I assume?" He stood up.

Anya smiled. "Yes please! I'm really looking forward to Halloween. How many volunteers did you get?"

"Oh, around twenty or so," he said after a brief consulation of his notes. "I think this Halloween shall be quite successful! Follow me, please..."

He led her down an aisle of hangers until he reached one marked "Anya." "Ah, here we are! I must say, I think you'll look stunning in this." He gave her the dress and a box containing the shoes, and then he gestured towards a small booth made from thich white sheets that he had hung up in a corner as a changing room. "Well, let's see if it fits, then, shall we? I'll return to my desk, and you can come over when you've changed." He bowed his head politely and grinned.

Nessa made her way to the room where the interviews were being held. She hadn't quite realized that she had to be interviewed, and was really wishing that she was actually scary, or at least had scared one person during her life. As it was, she was about as scary as...something that wasn't very scary at all. Like a fluffy pillow.

Well, she'd volunteered, and she was going to do whatever they wanted her to do. She opened the door of the classroom. "Mr. Skellington?"

Jack looked up from his notes and gave the young woman in the wheelchair his very friendliest grin. "Hello there, Miss! Are you one of my volunteers, then?"

Nessa smiled back- it was extremely infectious. A talking skeleton? At least he was nice! "Yes, I'm Nessarose Thropp. It's very nice to meet you, sir."

"Likewise, Miss Thropp!" He checked his notes. "Oh yes, you would like to be a witch, am I right? Good, classic costume, the witch..." He stood up. "I have several different outfits that would suit you, if you'd like to come with me..."

Christine brushed her blonde hair out of her eyes and frowned at the corridor behind her. No matter how long she was here, she would never get used to how the walls enjoyed pretending to be doors.

She rapped gently on what she hoped was the door. "Hello? Mr. Skellington?"

Jack hurried up to open the door, grinning and bowing his head politely at the pretty young woman outside. "Hello there! Are you one of my volunteers?"

Christine blinked, momentarily off-put by the fact she was talking to a skeleton. Well, this was Hogwarts, after all. She smiled up at him and curtsied. "Yes. Christine Daae, sir." She held out a gloved hand. "I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance," she added conscientiously.

"Jack Skellington, Miss Daae, and I'm happy to meet you as well. Please, do call me Jack." He bowed. "And I believe you were going to be the lovely Queen of the Ball, am I correct? I must say, I think the dress will fit you perfectly. Do come in, please!"

He stepped aside, allowing her to pass him.
