"Well hello there!" he exclaimed. "Are you one of my volunteers?"
He raised his clipboard, hovering with his quill over the list of names, ready to tick her off as one who showed up as soon as she says her name.

He waved a bony hand absently. "Oh, it is really just a formality, to see what you can and can't to, and to try out your costume... Do come in!" He stepped aside, pushing the classroom door open for her.

He led her down an aisle of hangers until he reached one marked "Anya." "Ah, here we are! I must say, I think you'll look stunning in this." He gave her the dress and a box containing the shoes, and then he gestured towards a small booth made from thich white sheets that he had hung up in a corner as a changing room. "Well, let's see if it fits, then, shall we? I'll return to my desk, and you can come over when you've changed." He bowed his head politely and grinned.
