Masquerade post.

The Great Hall has been decorated appropriately for the Masquerade, many Transfiguration spells cast and the House Elves all on the highest of alerts, currently attired in toga-like napkins. The floor has been changed to white marble, with small green tables of food and drink lining the sides of the walls, interposed with benches and seats for ( Read more... )

For something that they whipped together secretly, at NEARLY the last minute, Dib's pretty happy with their costumes. He grins happily under his goggles as he arrives in tandem with Luna:

"This was a fun idea! I don't think I'll try to do the voice much, though. I'd get a sore throat." That reminds her of something, and she takes a folded piece of paper out of her pocket. "This is that song I think we should sing when people start doing karaoke. I can try and hum the tune for you if you like."

Blink. Blink. "Y...you want ME to sing?" he squeaks. "But.. I've NEVER sung ..uhm, ANYTHING! Except maybe 'Happy Birthday'..."

He tugs on his gray jumpsuit collar, glancing around. "..We're the first ones here, aren't we?"

"All sorts of people will be singing. It'll be fun." She grins broadly. "And people are just starting to show up... that should give you a chance to pick up the tune a little."

Anne walks in slowly, trying to become accustomed to having so much leg bared in front of all these people...

"Hi!" A little kid in a Ghostbuster outfit waves cheerfully! "I think we're all a little early... I like your ears!"

Generally Batman was not a social person. Lurking in shadows and silently observing people was more his thing. When he spoke to people it was usually direct and to the point, he rarely engaged in small talk. Bruce Wayne on the other hand was a very sociable person who made sure he talk to everyone and anyone at a party. Since everyone here knew he was Batman, he could be Batman 24/7. But he realized it was important for him to put on his Bruce mask occasionally or else he'd get stuck in Batmode permanently and it would be difficult for him to switch over when he returned to his universe. Going to a masquerade is something that Bruce would do and hey, it gave him the chance to observe most of the people at the school and see what kind of people got sent here ( ... )

Kon HAD to glare a little bit at Bruce's costume. A guy who dressed up like a bat on a regular basis had no standing to make fun of Clark, even if Clark really did like spandex and bright colors a bit too much.

"Nice costume," she grumped, not looking too happy about Bruce's choice of outfit.

Tim actually bustled in a few minutes later, a little out of breath but still looking quite extraordinarily pretty in her rather, well, frilly outfit. Tim spotted Bruce immediately (how could anybody NOT?) and then, just next to him, Conner.

In a miniskirt. And fishnets. Tim did not hesitate to flutter over in a big swoosh of blue-and-gold gown, accusing Kon on sight. "What are you wearing?!" Then, hissing a little under her breath, Tim blurted, "I thought you didn't like when the guys stared at your massive rack!"

(( Timmy = pretty.

Kon went crimson beneath her mask and tugged down the entirely too short skirt. "Ryuuji grabbed me and wouldn't let me go!" She was wearing lipstick and everything. It took Kon a moment to realize, but-- "What the HELL are you wearing?" A gown. A frilly, yellow gown. I was almost as bad worse than Kon's fishnets and miniskirt!

Ron had picked his costume carefully, and had spent a better part of an hour charming his hair and casting a spell on his outfit. He couldn't afford the exact costume that he wanted, so he was stuck on buying a temporary illusion charm that would dispel by the end of the night. Still, he was proud when he looked in the mirror. He was finished. He was cool. He was Tyler.

Paul, having parted ways from Irulan, decides to say hello to Ron. "How are things going with your new roommate?" he asks with a friendly and knowing smile. "Not the roommate that's attached to you, that is." He gives the puppet a look of intense hatred.

"Ok, I guess." Ron puts the unlit cigarette back in his mouth, and leans. Unfortunately, he's not leaning against anything, so he just stumbles a bit. "He's, you know, f-fucken Harry Potter. Decent guy, a bit too straight. You needs to let loose, break the rules and the hearts. Got a light? Shit."

Paul decides it would be equally cruel to encourage Ron's "coolness" and to tell him what it actually looks like. More than anything, it would be cruel to actually give him a light and thus force him to attempt smoking. "Sorry, I don't smoke. How've you been since we destroyed your room? And I'm still really sorry about that, by the way."

At her normal high school Nico had passed on going to all of the school dances. They weren't her thing and she didn't like that many people at her school. But a magical masquerade? She couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to it. She should have asked the other Runaways if they were going. If they didn't come then she'd just have to go and meet new people. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, but she was hoping that at least Karolina or Chase would show up. She needed to talk to the two of them, one-on-one, and the balcony looked like a good place to do that.

Victor had decided that wandering into the party without a costume might not be a good idea (who knew what people around here might do!) So he'd thrown together a costume from odds and ends and a little bit of enchantment he'd picked up from one of his library books But when he got a look at Nico, he had to smother a little bit of a laugh. "Nice costume."

"Like you're one to talk," Karolina says as she joins her friends. "You two look like a celestial Barbie and Ken," she added jokingly.

"It's not THAT bad is it?" Victor tugged self-conciously at a sleeve, and noticed that his wings actually seemed to flutter in agitation, animated by enchantment. "I've never been to a costume ball before. You look very nice. Very dashing, K," he complimented.
