Return Owl, warded as best she canmeropegaunt_rMarch 7 2006, 03:42:37 UTC
Dear James,
It's not your fault. He's just very, very angry with me. Understandable, really, considering what I've done to him. I'm slowly making amends with Tom and Little Tom and I are alright so far, I think.
I was in the common room briefly before settling in. Tom was kind enough to allow me to share a room with him, and I'm receiving lessons from Professor Snape already. I hope to learn everything I can.
I'd love to see you again, too. Everyone's been so nice lately and I'm just happy to have friends for once. Until we meet, though, would you mind continuing to send letters? It's a great comfort to know that I can talk to you about things.
Sincerely, Merope Gaunt-Riddle
PS - Thank you so much for the chocolate, and the tea was wonderfully calming.

Merope,
Certainly, I'll continue to send you owls. If there's anything at all you need, just let me know. You're not going to be alone again now.
There's a room on the second floor called the "room of requirement". We could meet there, if you don't want to be around people. But not until you feel ready to be out and about.
Don't blame yourself for any of what happened. Please.

Dear James,
I'm relieved to know that. I think after nearly nineteen years of being alone, I want to make friends. I hardly count my father or my brother, after all...
When would you like to meet? I don't think I'm ready for large groups of people just yet, but just the two of us sounds wonderful good.

Minerva said the same. I still do...

Well, I think that you will find plenty of people here willing to be your friend, and I number among them. I'm glad you'll let me.
Tomorrow evening, maybe? I think that it would be nice to just sit and talk. I could introduce you to movies.
I think Minerva's right. It's okay if you still feel this way, though. Your feeligns can't change over night.
