Unpopcorning Dick Grayson as Nightwing (DC Universe - Open)

Jul 04, 2011 11:53

[Unpopcorning approved by fellow DCU mun; Zatanna Zatara. Without past memories.]

Dick Grayson was saturated in melted butter and, suffice it to say, his expression was one of dubious reflection. "Butter, huh? That's a new one." The one upside was in the reassurance that it was not blood and sweat that matted his hair, or dug rivulets down his cheek ( Read more... )

This was... unexpected. More the costume than Dick actually being here. There's a long pause as she looks at him, in the eyes, even, and a smile spreads across her face.

Eh, timelines. Who cares?

She raises an awkward hand and offers the smallest of waves. "Heya."

Upon seeing Zatanna some clarity is made. It is not enough to make a full explanation, but because of her presence, he is at least still on Earth, and during a time were she recognises him. But there is a look of confusion he notices before it sooner vanishes. That is something that troubles him.

Grayson smiles, taking a hand to his face and wiping another deluge of butter from his person. It hits the ground with a sickening splatter. 'Hey Zee, mind telling me where I've been abracadabra'd?' There is a suspicious tease in his eye as he regards the stage magician.

They'd all had their share of weird and wonderful (Zatanna more than most). She wasn't sure of his awareness of multiple universes, different dimensions, different versions of one's self; certainly, he had some idea of it, as most if not all in their area of expertise had, but that didn't make accepting it any easier.

She moves a little closer, now that he's seen her, and gives him a good look, up and down. It can't be helped. He is covered in butter, after all. "Why, you're a wizard, Harry!" She knew little about Harry Potter beyond flashes of commercials that she'd seen for the films. Harry's similarities to Tim were enough to make her uncomfortable. "Hogwarts. Some alternate universe. It's not too bad and can I help you with the... butter?"

Unfortunately the Harry Potter reference was lost on him. He hardly had time to watch television in any situation that included leisure. If anything, all his tube-watching was narrowed down to CNN and other news broadcasts. Alternate universes, how ever, he could understand ... well, as much as one could possibly. It was a tight concept to wrap your mind around; even after his time as part of the Bat family, it had been easier and frankly less painful to simply stop with the why's and plough on.

He hated no-win situations - but as long as he kept two spaces ahead ...

Ah, the butter. 'Yeah, if you could? I doubt, even here, walking around as a buttered-up masked vigilante is a frequent trend. By your wizard reference, magic must play a large part to this universe. If that's the case, have you been able to reason as to why we're here? This wouldn't be some spell gone awry by a Zatara, would it?' He had heard of Zachary, and his ... choice in personality. Regardless, he was Zee's family and he hoped he inflicted her no insult.
