What I want to know is who the hell threatened these damn elves to keep them silent and just what with. Pain does nothing, neither does grabbing them by the ears and shaking them. One of them glancing at the door makes me turn. "Kurama," I say flatly. "These refuse to say who they saw Akabane talking to." With Akabane being a 'professional,' it's highly unlikely he would have done something like this on his own, without some kind of reward.
"Stop tormenting them," Kurama sighed, giving a minimal shrug. "You won't get any information out of them by conventional means; Akabane is thorough." He scanned the kitchen, catching the eye of every elf that dared to even glance at him. "We'll have to be unconventional. For now, come with me." He turned and stalked away from the kitchen, not waiting to see if Mello followed. He didn't need to.
I shove my hands in my pockets and follow him. "No shit he's thorough. But, we both know he didn't do this alone." I draw even with him. "It's a matter of who hired him and who modified those wards and why Kuronue."
"Do you know how a Penseive works?" He asked, taking the staircases up to the room of requirement. "Can the memories be extracted without the holder's consent?"
