somewhere between waking and sleeping. [open, backdated to april 1st]

Zatanna was, more often than not, an early bird. She liked seeing the sunrise and getting a head start on her day -- of course, it was easier to be up in the dark hours of the morning when one had been hit with a bout of insomnia the previous evening. The past week had yielded little sleep for the magician, but it didn't bother her all that much. ( Read more... )

Faith was restless and a little bored. There were few monsters, no (decent) vampires worth hunting, and to put it simply, there were no challenges. She wasn't ordinarily one for practice, or those slow moving katas that Giles and B used to swear by, but it was something to do. She could also do it with a sword in her hand. The added weight of the weapon helped her focus her mind.

She moved down by the lakeside, her movements quick, graceful and gradually increasing in speed as she took down invisible opponents.

The Slayer pulled up short when she noticed she had company.

Oh hey, LJ's working now! Sorry for the wait! fishnets April 7 2011, 23:41:12 UTC
Zatanna should have been on the superhero clock at all times. The fact that she was being careless was a sign that she was comfortable, not that she didn't think that the people here could potentially be formidable foes (though she'd much prefer them not to be, of course).

She hears her at the last minute, turning her head slightly. "...uh, hey." And a smile and a wave, to let her (hopefully) know that she means no threat.

I think it just got off life support. Clear! 5by5_lehane April 8 2011, 21:48:08 UTC
Faith snapped the sword back into its sheath, holding it loosely in her off hand. She gave the woman a careful and very professional once-over. It wasn’t anything personal, it was just habit. Most people that tended to look innoccuous were the ones that always wound up causing the most trouble. Not that there was much trouble at the school to begin with.. at least not the kind she could deal with herself.

“Hey,” she said, returning the smile with a slanted grin of her own. “Sorry, I just get a little bored some mornings. Usually don’t see anyone up and about at this hour either,” she commented. Never mind the fact that the only reason Faith was up at such an hour was because she hadn’t gone to bed just yet. Slayers perpetually kept odd hours, even when there was a disappointing lack of things to, well, slay.

Except whenever I'm on. Other than right now, if this posts. fishnets April 11 2011, 12:35:51 UTC
Oh, good. This meant she wasn't going to be shanked. Not that she'd noticed the sword. If Zatanna had, she might have tried a little harder to make the other woman feel as if she wasn't being threatened or attempt to disarm her.

"Ah, nothing like running around outside with something long and pointy to cure boredom, right?" She'd never been much for weapons. Proficient in many, but preferential to none.

The magician stretches a little, reaching an arm over her head and twisting slightly. "Yeah. Not that night is all that bad of a time, either. I'm just... selective about when I sleep, I guess. Rarely more than I need to. A bit of insomnia doesn't hurt, either." Letting her arm gently come back down to her side, she makes sure to look at the other full on this time. "How about you?"
