Herbology - group 1 RP

Feb 20, 2006 22:27

Stephen was fairly certain that he knew the answer to his group's herbology question, but guessed that simple identification alone was not the point of the assignment. In any case, it would be more pleasant to tramp about looking for the plant together than alone. He owled Devi, Teatime, Oz, Kentaro, and Wednesday to suggest a meeting in the ( Read more... )

Oz heads inside the library, sitting down at an empty table. He looks around a few times, and notices that there are several other students there, involved in other products. Students actually use the library for non-slaying purposes?

The school really was magic.

(( OOC: What do you think it is? I really do have an idea, but I don't want to mess it up in-character because Stephen surely wouldn't miss it. My supposition is linked in Stephen's journal, in case our other group members want to figure it out for themselves and not see it potentially spoiled in here ))

Teatime bounded into the library, a grinning effigy of lunacy. The knife in his hand (held a little too loosely for one to be sure he wasn't going to suddenly turn around and throw it) was not dripping crimson blood, so there might just be a merciful Benevolent Dictator-For-Life of the Multiverse.

Then again, maybe not. Assassins didn't get much business in a place that no-one could die, and hurting students would probably lead to nasty awkward questions.

These assignments were fun, though, and especially for Herbology. They reminded him of days past, identifying poisonous plants...oh, wait. Wasn't that what they were doing now? Yes. Yes, it was.

As it was, he paused, then snuck over to a corner of the room using his Stealth Powers +5 sneakiest means. He could, he supposed, wait until everyone else was here to join them.

Devi showed up, surprisingly enough on time. She was constantly shifting her backpack on her shoulder and glancing around, unsure as to what they were going to be doing here. She hadn't really inquired as to why they would be meeting up, but it had sounded interesting. She settled at an empty table, glacing up to Oz and around the room some. Who else was supposed to be here anyways...

(( oh noes! Stephen wasn't at Devi's *or* Oz's sortings, and he won't see where Teatime is lurking, so I wonder whether he'd ... I wonder if any of them will recognize him ... I'd better start a new comment thread to reflect this, I guess ))

Stephen arrived in the agreed-upon area of the library, carrying his herbology textbook as well as a bundle of sheet music for some solitary cello playing later on. He saw two unfamiliar people sitting at separate tables; both seemed to be waiting for someone. Maybe these were his groupmates? He unobtrusively tried to catch their attention, signaling toward his herbology book by way of inquiring whether they were in fact here for herbology. He didn't want to disturb anyone who wasn't here for that purpose.

Oz looks at Maturin and nods, standing up to walk towards him.

Well, there is one of them, at least. Stephen returns Daniel Osbourne's nod -- for Osbourne this must be, as it was not Teatime and it did not appear to be a person of Japanese heritage -- and introduces himself quietly. To Oz he indicates Devi, who is sitting at another table. "Do you know whether she is one of our number?"

Oz looks at Devi. "Were you in Group One Herbology?"

Wednesday,

If you let me get its scent, I might be able to track it. We need to find it growing on the school's grounds, I think.

Stephen watches Oz write the return owl to Wednesday. He agrees with her opinion of the plant's identity, but does not exactly approve of her means of communicating it. His impression of the assignment was that the group was intended to work together; if it were as easy as piping up with the correct identification, he could have had the assignment over and done with when he sent out the first owls, having immediately understood the riddle and its answer.

He shrugs. At least this will save them some time.
