A Brief Respite (Open RP)

Smooth, slow motions.

Once, one of his colonels had commented on the oddity of Sephiroth, the General spearheading the war against the orient, doing something like Tai Chi every morning. Sure, he didn't believe in Da Chao and reserved his beliefs for science rather than Odin and his host of sons and daughters, but he believed in the calming nature ( Read more... )

The grass rustled slightly in the wind, the sound being sucked up by the quite of this late hour. Then he was there, watching, eyes half-lidded in their melancholy. 'What is the purpose of this?' He murmured apathetically.

Eyes flicking to the man briefly as he turned, Sephiroth responded in a deep, smooth tone. "It is, primarily, a form of martial arts. Though this I do for...relaxation," he said, not pausing as he moved through the steps slowly.

Ulquiorra watched Sephiroth drift easily through the forms of Tai Chi, watching as his musculature and height moved as elegantly as water through a stream into the different stances, all to experience relaxation. He sighed, showing emotion without realising it. 'How is this ... relaxation, achieved?'

He frowned a little, trying to think of a way to put it. "Raging waters, screaming crows, fast frantic movement; none are particularly relaxing. But moving like this, feeling your energy roll about, in yourself, smooth, slow..." he trailed off as he turned, cat-like eyes fixing on Ulquiorra for a moment.

"It's calm. That makes it relaxing." Said like it should be obvious, not that he was intentionally trying to sound arrogant at the moment. "It's excessive, too."

Wishbone had been sniffing around for a while and now he was sure of it.

You're standing where I buried my chewtoy.

Sephiroth had to pause for a moment and stare, not because of the fact that Wishbone was talking, but because he had the audacity to tell him to move so he could dig up his toy.

He had no idea how to handle the situation. He killed humans, he killed monsters and those who opposed Mother, he didn't kill tiny dogs looking for toys.

Blinking and letting his hands drop, Sephiroth straightened and stayed put. "Your...chewtoy?"

Yeah. I buried it there. So I could dig it up later. I like digging, especially if there's a reason.

He stared for a moment, then took a step to the side.

"Why did you bury it?"

Arthur watched Sephiroth move through the forms from a respectful distance away. He'd gone out for a walk around the grounds to clear his head and get his blood moving after spending too long in the library, hunched over dusty books. His brow was slightly creased in concentration; he was observing how the man moved with balance and precision.

"You're very good," Arthur said when he could speak without interrupting.

Sephiroth looked over to the man after a moment, cat-like eyes fixing on him and remaining for a long while. "Thank you," he eventually said. "I learnt it from the prisoners of war a few years ago." They had been scared to death of him, didn't dare not teach him anything he asked.

One would think that Arthur would have learned his lesson on looking strangers in the eye after the dragon incident at his sorting, but it was habit. He stared back at Sephiroth, expression as neutral as ever. Prisoners of war raised questions in his mind that he decided to push aside for now. "How much time do you spend practicing?" he asked.

He thought on that. "I've practiced for several years, give or take the time I spent without a body." It was kind of pointless for a ghost to do Tai Chi, after all. "A few hours each morning, once upon a time."

He turned back to his movements, seeming to ignore the man. "I'm Sephiroth," he said, after a long pause.

Adam needed out, after finding out his 'fate' and having the face to face with his family over it. He needed air, his shoulders were tense, the look on his face was as if some one had just kicked his dog and he couldn't do any thing about.

His hands stuffed in his pockets the young man almost didn't notice Sephiroth there. When he nearly stumbled in to the man's space he stopped and cleared his throat.

"Sorry, didn't see you there."

Sephiroth paused, dropped his stance and took a step back. The boy was too close, even though Sephiroth was reasonably relaxed today. "No offense taken," he said, after a moment.

He raised his chin, started again. "Join me," he said. "Your back will go out with how tense your shoulders are."

Adam didn't take any offense at him stepping back, he respected personal space after all. Adam just stared at Sephiroth a moment, then shook his head.

"That obvious, huh?" He paused another beat then shrugged those tense shoulders "I guess, what is it you're doing anyway?"

"Tai Chi," he said, looking at him and giving him a faint smile. "It's martial arts, relaxation, exercise," he explained. "It will help." He paused. "Copy me." He stood with his hands by his sides, waiting.

Yukimura was out, his Tengoku slung on his back, his sword on his hip. He was starting to feel restless from the winter, ready for spring to arrive. He was in his usual kimono, hakuam, and haori, with the addition of a soft undershirt with long sleeves, one of the few additions to his wardrobe since he'd come here that he would wear outside his room and willingly.

He watched Sphiroth cruiously a moment then began mimicking the steps, finding them quite interesting.

He tilted his head curiously at Yukimura after a moment, remembering him. "Hello again," he greeted, noting the weapons Yukimura carried.

"Hello," Yukimura replied, noticing the attention to his weapons. "Have you been well?" he asked, returning to a neutral stance again. "Have you found this place to your liking?"

He thought on that. "As well as one can be." This place wouldn't let him back to another world where he was closer to the Lifestream, thus closer to Jenova. Sure, she was inside him, was him, and sometimes he heard her whisper, but these days it was faint. At the moment it was dead silent. Sanity must be awful boring.

"It has been...amusingly accommodating. My wardrobe seems to enjoy spitting clothes out at me." And they were often ridiculous, leading to fights wherein the wardrobe would be destroyed, and then repaired next time he came into the room.
