((I've barely been online lately, but I'll try to fail less in the future with tagging. Sorry about the long wait.))Glorfindel's curiosity had been growing over the last several months, but in spite of this, he respected Elrond's desire for secrecy and had made a point to avoid the area he knew Elrond had chosen for his project. This was the sort of surprise which he welcomed, and he was also glad that his friend had this pleasant task to keep his hands and mind occupied. Ever since the kiss they'd shared and the admission of their feelings for one another, not much had necessarily changed between them-Glorfindel didn't think it stemmed from uncertainty on either side, but rather a certain feeling of caution, of prudence. Time did not weigh on them as it did mortals, and so they could afford to linger on each aspect of their relationship like this, to enjoy the simple pleasures of growing closer in ways that they hadn't previously thought possible ( ... )

While Elrond awaited Glorfindel, he busied himself with going over the ship one last time, frequently polishing spots on the rails which really didn't need it. The action kept him from dwelling upon his worries, not the least of which was Glorfindel's reaction to his gift. What if he'd somehow misinterpreted his desires? Elrond found this unlikely, as, he had indeed come across Glorfindel's drawings. He hadn't intended to stumble across anything private, but, he'd been searching for a book which Glorfindel had mentioned, and dislodged some papers, one of which contained a beautifully drawn image of their crests combined into one. He'd instantly recognized it for what it was, and had looked over it for a long moment before returning the papers to their former place. Elrond was sure that Glorfindel would never have drawn such a thing from a frivolous inspiration, but he nevertheless harbored a slight fear that Glorfindel had never intended the combined symbol to be seen in public ( ... )
