Hogwarts, it turned out, was almost an interesting place in itself to make up for not being able to jet off into the universe at will ( Read more... )

Rory had been in the Great Hall when it happened.

It couldn't have taken long. One second he was on his feet and then - lizardsoldiers light dying light silence Romans Amy Doctor forgetting remembering Amy dying the Doctor the fez the Pandorica -

waiting

and waiting, Amy safe Amy alone Rory waiting wars and fires and floods and bombs and no stars and waiting and Amy Amelia Doctor River Tardis Pandorica Leadworth Registry Office Amy, remembering - and then he was coming round on the floor, gasping for breath, people just beginning to turn and look curiously at him. Not long then. It couldn't have taken long.

Two thousand years. Two thousand years.

He scrambled to his feet, muttering vaguely apologetic things to the bystanders as he rushed past. He needed to find - both of them, it didn't matter who first right now. Someone. This had to have happened to the three of them, didn't it? It couldn't just be him...

As distracted as he was, he almost ran past without seeing the Doctor at all.

Rory was completely oblivious to being dripped on at present, and wouldn't have cared if he'd noticed. "...that's right," he agreed, still a little dazed, although the effect of being hit in the head with two thousand years was wearing off now. "No more dancing. We... Amy. We're married. We are actually - married. I'm your husband."

"What, there's going to be another one?" He gaped at Amy, kind of oblivious to Rory, but most of what Rory said was just echoes on a theme of 'yay Amy love Amy Doctor you're a scary man in a [cool] bowtie.' He was more interested in that there seemed to be another opportunity to do the fork in a blender dance with small children.

Or rather, it was an easy distraction.

"We are," Amy agreed, tightening her arms around Rory. The fear that she was being trapped was just a memory now; why run away from your fiance the night before your wedding when you could run away with your husband right after it?

And that was just the mundane side of things.

She'd spent two millennia dead in a metal box with Rory watching over her. And the adventures continued.

"Oh, Rory," she murmured, letting the Doctor wind himself up about dancing. "You are too much to believe."

"You're the one with the whole universe in your head," Rory pointed out, stroking hair back from her face. "Amy, you..."

Words failed him, then, and he leaned in to kiss her, still clinging as though she might be lost again if he let go.

The Doctor shifted uncomfortably. Public Displays of Affection weren't really his thing, at least when he couldn't be a huggy, enthusiastic part of them. He edged around the happy pair with a little cough.

"I'll, er... go see about that fez, then."

Amy wanted to yell at him... after all, he'd upstaged her at her own wedding, and now he wanted to go get lost in this maze of a school for who knows how long? But right now, kissing Rory was the most important thing in the world.

"...what?" Rory murmured, briefly pausing for air. "...yeah, okay, do that."

Clearly he wasn't really listening. He'd feel bad about that later. It wasn't that he wanted the Doctor to leave or feel uncomfortable or anything, of course not. But, Amy - Amy had been dead, for so long, and he had to make sure she was real...

Oooohkay. Most certainly time to leave them to their kissing and such.
The Doctor edged around them, not making too much of a token effort to make sure he was out of reach (just in case, of course. Not like he wanted to be pulled back or anything) back towards the staircases. .
